My Best Friends Dad

My phone beeped and I picked it up to check the message. It was from my best friend, Jess. She said her dad finally let her have a friend over. It was the first time she'd have someone stay over in 2 years. And I'd finally be able to meet her parents. I grabbed a bag and threw some clothes into it. The drive to her house was quick. I already knew where it was but I'd just never been inside it before. I knocked on the door and Jess answered. She was heaps excited.

"Hey Sophie, come in" she said.

I followed her inside and she gave me a quick tour. We went upstairs to her bedroom. I dumped my bag on the ground and we both sat on the bed.

"So, why did your parents change their minds?" I asked.

"I don't know, they just did. It was weird."

"Are they even here?"

"No, they're both at work but they'll be home soon. What do you want to do in the meantime?" she asked.

"Well, we could go chill out in your spa for a while."

"Ok, let's go."

We got changed into our bikinis and went down to the spa. It was hot already and we turned the bubbles on as we sank into the water. We sat and talked about what had happened since we'd last seen each other. It soon became dark and our fingers became wrinkly. Jess got out to go call her parents to see where they were. A minute or so later there was a knock on the side of the spa. I spun around and saw a guy. He was really more of a man though. He looked to be around 30 or so but he was still really cute. But Jess didn't have any brothers so I assumed it was her dad. He had short dark brown hair which was almost black. His chin was covered in stubble and his green eyes sparkled. He ran his eyes down my body, clearly checking me out. I suddenly felt awkward, this was Jess' dad. His wife was probably in the next room.

"Hi, I'm Jared, Jess' dad" he said.

"I'm Sophie."

"It's nice to finally meet one of her friends."

"Yeah, I guess" I said.

I climbed out of the spa and wrapped a towel around me. Jared's eyes were on me the whole time. I grabbed my phone and went back into the other room to find Jess. She was sitting in the kitchen talking to her mum.

"Mum this is Sophie, Sophie this is Anna my mum" Jess said.

"It's nice to meet you."

"Jess, you never told us you had such a lovely friend" Jared said.

"I did actually, but you never listened. I'm glad you approve of her."

"I approve of her."

He walked passed me and as he did he whispered "very much" so only I could hear. This was starting to turn out to be a bad idea. He kissed Anna and then turned back to me as he started helping to prepare dinner.

"So, Sophie, I assume your the same age as Jess" Jared said.

"Yeah, I'm 18."

"Anyways, guys I've got to head back to work. I'll see you all in the morning" Anna said.

She grabbed her bag and left. Why was she going back to work and why was she leaving me here with Jared...alone. Jess turned to me.

"I'm just gonna go have a shower, I'll be back in a minute, ok?"

"Sure."

She disappeared upstairs and I was left with Jared. He locked eyes with me.

"Sophie you're a really pretty girl" he said.
