"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Chan hyung, happy birthday to you!"
I watched them sing for me as i was covering my face in "embarrassment". Not that i was really embarrassed tho! It was the way they were singing the song for me... these kids. I let out a sigh shaking my head, they won't stop messing with me anytime soon.
"Chan hyung!" I heard Seungmin calling me.
"Hm?" I raised my eyebrows, waiting for what he had to say.
"You're half 52 now..."
That mischievous smile of his, ah! I knew this was coming. Never ending jokes about my age, though i was deep down enjoying, i acted as if i was irritated.
I normally don't like my birthdays, so i used to lie about it all the time when i was young. I mean, i just think or.. at least thought they were not that special in general. But with the boys, and Stays, it just feels important now. They make it feel like this is something important. Seeing everyone who truly cares about me wishing me those birthday wishes, telling me to have a good day, year, life... they all started to feel important at some point.
While i was deep in thought i saw Felix coming closer to me with a big, bright smile on his face. "Happy birthday mate!" Said Felix, while handing over his birthday gift to me.
"Thank you so much, you really didn't had t-"
"Don't even mention it Chris, you deserve this much. This is nothing compared to what you do for us all the time."
He hugged me firmly, "please never break the promise you gave me...okay?"
That's what he whispered in my ear before he walked back to the others who were getting some snacks and cake.
I was not planning on breaking my promise either way, i was honestly surprised that he even mentioned it. Even though that got me off guard, i still walked to the others and got a piece of my birthday cake as well. Well, this one was the best cake i've ever had so far!
Looking at my members and the staff around me, i felt really happy and lucky. This was just the life i had imagined when i first came to Korea to audition. Me, my teammates who felt more like brothers than colleagues and also other people around us who cares about us, our fans. I couldn't keep myself from thinking that everything was going just as i wanted it to be, but of course i knew i still had a long way to go for it to be perfect as well... but still, for now? Yeah, for now everything was just as i imagined it to be.
"Happy birthday Chris..." *sniffs*
