Even after he had tried to get Adam to spill his secret, Evan wasn't able to hear the reason why the warrior was so depressed. Adam was like a closed oyster, keeping his lips sealed shut. The shorter man picked up his bags and headed out of the room, leaving a confused giant to follow his trail in a way a lost chick would do.

Adam walked briskly, heading straight to the counter where he handed his keys to Abigail, keeping his head down, before paying the rest of the money needed for their stay. The red-haired warrior glanced curiously at the slave, but the latter only shook his head, not having answers.

As he turned around to leave the inn, Adam accidentally bumped into a startled Evan. The warrior swayed slightly, but his body straightened up as the slave took his shoulder in his large hands. The blue-eyes man mumbled an embarrassed thank you, before walking away with quick steps, nearly tripping a few times.

The giant looked at his master's departing back with wide eyes, adjusting the bag that had nearly fallen off his broad shoulder.

"I don't know what happened, but you should apologize. It's never good to leave the wife angry." Abigail said in a sing-song voice, whistling after the wise words left her mouth. Evan's left eyebrow twitched as he registered what she had said, but chose to follow her advice anyway. Adam may not be his wife, but his husband, however, the fact that he seemed pissed was true and it was also not good to have your lover mad at you. Even if he didn't know what he had done, for the impassive Adam to be mad, it must have been outrageous. The warrior didn't seem like the type to get angry at nothing.

He would say sorry when they would be traveling.

Evan hurried to follow behind Adam, only to see his master waiting while tapping his foot, resting his back against a shop not too far. The giant hid the small smile that stretched his lips and instead jogged until he was a few feet away from his lover. When he saw that Evan was back at his side, Adam turned his back to him and walked toward their destination.

The walk was quiet, none of the men speaking.

Soon, their eyes caught sight of a medium sized carriage with horses and packing men around it just beside an angel fountain. Adam and Evan exchanged a glance before concluding that it was the merchant they were looking for. The warrior introduced their party to the first man that they met, explaining that they were sent by the guild. Their interlocutor greeted them with enthusiasm before leading them toward a short chubby man with green hair, brown skin and leaves in his hair. Adam narrowed his eyes in concentration before remembering that such creatures were called dryads. After the Great Descent from decades ago, the humans had seen new beings emerging from the cracks created and slowly, those creatures mixed in with their society, creating new species. Dryads normally had skin made of bark, but the merchant had a smooth one, so he must have been a hybrid.

"Oh, so you must be Adam and Evan! Nice to meet you! You can help my men pack up, then we will be leaving. I only have one horse though, so you two will have to share or one can walk." The man with green eyes said cheerfully before going back to his paper, looking over his list to see if they were missing anything. Adam froze, before glancing furtively at Evan. As the giant was doing the same, they ended up staring at each other. The warrior shuffled on his feet, feeling like it was awkward, while the slave held a perverse glint in his eyes, thinking of all the places he could grab into while they traveled back to chest.

He could sit in the front to have Adam hug his back, his bulging chest pressing against his shoulder blades, or he could sit in the back so that he could grab a handful of Adam's squishy mounts and maybe rub an abdominal or two. His master wouldn't be able to evade his hands, which made the situation ten times better.

The two made their way toward the working men, lending their help as everyone carried heavy wooden boxes into the carriage. As the sun finally showed his full face, their convoy was ready to depart and the couple was hungry. They had planned to eat small cookies to pad their stomach, but they hadn't had time yet.

The dryad merchant, whose name the couple learnt was Bastien, shouted for his employees to mount their horses so as to depart early. The lovers also heard the employees say that the journey would take approximately one week depending on the weather and if they were attacked often.

Adam and Evan headed toward their horse, coming to a stop in front of a white stallion with black spots. Even if taking a seat on the animal meant being close to his lover, Adam truly didn't want to walk, and he also wasn't egoist enough to ask the giant to suffer in his place. That's why, with a heavy heart, the shorter man turned toward his companion, his dark skin flushing a deep red as he stammered out words.

"S-so, I was... erm... wondering if you wanted...maybe... only if you want... to get on the same horse as me? I-f you don't want to, t-then it's fine! I can walk!" Adam said, an embarrassing squeak leaving his mouth as he finished his sentences.

He wanted to dig a hole and jump in it.

He also wanted to smack his head so hard his brain would do a flip as he watched Evan's mouth morphing into a smirk.

"Now, now, was it that hard to say? Of course! Also, I would love to have you mount before me." Evan answered as he stared at Adam with a predatory gaze, his unsaid words making the warrior blush a shade darker. The warrior knew for sure that his slave had said the last sentence with a different meaning, and it frustrated him to no end that he couldn't control his emotions. It was truly disheartening how he was acting like a damsel in distress each time he faced Evan. Before others, he could maintain a poker face at all times, never giving away a single thought and not being affected by the outside world. With his slave, though, it was a different matter. All his training at being an iceberg melted away when he had to interact with the taller man.

He wanted to go back to his old life, where everything was much simpler. He could stay in a corner, never seeing anyone and not having to worry about his hole being penetrated by a giant rod, or about his out of control reaction. He could head back to the mansion, act as if he had died and no one would care.

His spinning thoughts were interrupted as large hands gripped his hips, his body suddenly lifted and flung on the horse. Before he could react, a warm chest pressed itself against his back, making all his worries disappear.

With a relieved sigh, Adam leaned back on the stronger man.

His thoughts of running away completely vanished as he embraced the little warmth he had never been given in his whole life.

Hey dear readers, Adam is such an insecure little bean!

Evan knows how to take care of him *wink* *wink*
