Adrien continued to text with his soulmate, who he had an itching feeling was Marinette, after about 3 weeks of just texting back and forth he was pretty confident his soulmate was Marinette, she had even sent him a picture of his own birthday gift she'd designed for him, and the very next day at his party she gave it to him herself.

"Oh really Kitty? How do you know that?"

"Because I'm within arms reach you just don't know it yet."

The two were literally sharing a booth at a restaurant with Alya and Nino who simply looked at each other and shook their heads, the pair, but more so Marinette was so oblivious, she didn't even have an inkling of an idea that her best friend of nearly 10 years, and the boy she would call for hours on end when she was younger was in fact the person she was destined to spend the rest of her life with. After the group finished up their lunch Marinette's parents pulled up outside the cafe the group were sitting at.
"Marinette! We need you to come with us on this catering job, we went to the school and got your classwork cause we'll be out of town for a few days." Sabine spoke from the passengers seat, calling for their daughter who just sadly looked to her friends. "I guess I'll see you guys in a few days." She frowned as she climbed in the back seat, of course she could've just said no, but then her parents would have to hire help, and they were making decent money, but not decent enough to hire someone to help them cater, especially when they were already closing the bakery down for a few days for the event.
Out of the three of them, Adrien was the saddest to see her go, obviously because he had a feeling she was his soulmate, but also because he just enjoyed her company, they would sometimes just go to each others house and cuddle up to watch a movie, which was always comforting for him, especially on his bad days.
The next day at school Alya, Nino, and Adrien entered the school just to receive weird glances from their classmates, Adrien was worried about what might be running in the rumor mill even though Marinette had only been gone less than a day, and the friends were already worried that someone may have started some nasty rumors about why Marinette wasn't in school today.
"I heard her parents sent her to boarding school because she was to obsessed with finding her soulmate." One voice whispered, catching a certain prissy blondes attention, sauntering over Chloe slammed a hand on the table. "Obviously she was sent away cause her parents were to ashamed of her lame face and never wanted to look at her again." Chloe was of course not going to help any rumors that were going around, however the rumor that Marinette was in boarding school seemed me make the blonde males blood boil, how could people be so quick to judge Marinette, pulling out his phone he pulled up his actual texts with Marinette.

"Just warning you someone started some rumor about you going to boarding school"

There was no response from his favorite blunette, not even a read notification, he figured that maybe she was busy with her parents or her school work, so he left her alone. "I hope these all die out before she gets back on monday." Alya was visibly concerned, having heard some of the rumors running around, like how Marinette had supposedly found her soulmate, and ran away with him to start a life together, or how she and her family must've been involved with some sort of Mafia and had to go into hiding. "All these rumors are ridiculous." Alya spoke sighing, they all missed their friend, and they'd just seen her the day before getting in her parents car and driving off to somewhere unknown.
"Where is Marinette? You guys always seemed so inseparable." Mylene asked looking at the trio missing their final person to make their usual quartet. "She's out of town, but I haven't heard from her since a few hours after she told me they'd hit Orleans, they had apparently stopped to visit her Aunt who lives there." Alya spoke up, she hated hearing all the rumors about Marinette, it made her blood boil even if Marinette wasn't here to hear them herself.
Adriens phone buzzed repeatedly in his pocket, pulling it out seeing multiple messages from the soulmate app.

Adriens heart dropped, he dropped his phone, shattering the screen making all the other students look to him in concern. "We need to find Marinette." He spoke, grabbing the broken phone off the floor and running out of the school as fast as he could, going home and grabbing a spare phone and putting his SIM card into the old device in a panic.
"Adrien what's the matter?" Nathalie asked as she looked at the panicked 14 year old boy, he definitely wasn't himself. "Marinette might be dead! And if I don't find out what's going on with her I might just lose my only chance at a soulmate!" He yelled, his voice panicking even more as he powered on the device, opening up the soulmate app and seeing nothing but a blank screen while the app loaded up his message history.
