Three days after the new student's arrival, on a peaceful Sunday evening, Eric was returning to his apartment from the market. As he approached his apartment building, he noticed that someone had moved into the room next door. Eric, always friendly and curious, decided to welcome his new neighbor. He knocked on the door, and after a moment, it swung open to reveal none other than the enigmatic new student who had intrigued Eric.

"Hey, I know you. We're in the same class," Eric exclaimed in surprise.

"Yeah, I never expected to meet one of my new classmates right here in my new apartment building," the new student replied with a faint smile.

"We haven't had a chance to introduce ourselves properly. I'm Eric Reynolds, and I live in the room next to yours," Eric introduced himself.

"Nice to meet you, Eric. I'm Rick Carter," the new student replied.

Eric couldn't help but notice Rick's reserved demeanor and decided to break the ice. "You seem like a bit of an introverted guy," Eric observed.

Rick hesitated for a moment before responding, "Yeah, I suppose I am. I'm not too keen on talking to people too much."

Eric offered a reassuring gesture. "Feel free to ask me anything or talk anytime. Don't hesitate."

"Thanks, Eric. I'm glad to have you as my neighbor," Rick said, showing signs of relief.

Eric extended a friendly offer. "How about we become friends since we live next to each other?"

Rick's face brightened with a smile. "Sure, I'd like to be friends with you."

"Great! I'll see you tomorrow morning. We can walk to school together," Eric suggested enthusiastically.

Rick, however, had other plans. "I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I have some morning errands to run. I'll head to school from there, but I can accompany you on the way back in the afternoon."

Eric understood. "No problem at all."

As Eric returned to his room, he couldn't help but feel relieved. He reassured himself, "I don't have to worry too much about Rick; he's just an introverted guy."

Little did Eric know that this budding friendship with Rick was just the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, one that would bring both joy and unforeseen challenges, ultimately strengthening the bond between them.

The following day, Rick's mysterious aura had noticeably dimmed, replaced by a friendly and approachable demeanor. Eric introduced Rick to the girls in the morning. Lien welcomed him with genuine warmth, but Richa's expression was one of unease.

"Richa, are you still not feeling well?" Eric inquired, his voice laced with genuine concern.

A hint of stress weighed down Richa's response. "No, I'm just a little stressed over studies."

Eric couldn't help but express his disapproval, "You idiot, always stressing over everything and making yourself sick."

Richa retaliated with a playful scowl, "Who are you calling an idiot, you little baboon?"

Amused by their playful banter, Eric couldn't help but chuckle, replying, "You, Ms. Idiot!"

Their exchange of playful insults drew laughter from Lien and Rick, who found the spectacle amusing. Inexplicably, a sense of relief washed over the trio as they witnessed Richa's growing comfort in their company. The rest of the morning was spent discussing various topics, and as the school day concluded, Rick joined Eric on his way back, accompanied by Lien and Richa.

"Curious," Rick began, "do you two ladies live somewhere near our apartment?"

Eric responded, "No, we part ways at the junction near the church."
