tw: pills, abuse, murder plotting

Dave groaned as he woke up, he glanced around and frowned. It was raining outside, but then he lightly smiled, he wouldn't be greeting guests anymore at the circus. He just hoped Henry didn't change his mind.

Dave got up from his bed and noticed his pills, he looked at the sticky note that said '37'. Dave poured the pills into his palm and counted them all back into the pill bottle. Dave walked over to his bathroom and started to run the shower water.

He didn't wait for hot water, he had it for cold. Dave took off his clothes leaving him bare, and walked to the shower and quickly washed his hair and his body.

After about 15 minutes, he got out the shower and put a towel around his waist and other over his hair to dry it.

Eventually, Dave dried off and got his work clothes on. He tied up his hair back as per usual. Dave glanced at the time, his eyes widened noticing he only had 5 minutes to get to the circus. Dave panicked and ran out the door of the house, and locked the house back and ran to the circus.

The ground was slightly wet, with a few puddles. Dave continued to run. Moments before he could get to the circus doors, he slipped and fell face first into the floor.

"Guh, shiiiiit...." he groaned, trying to get up.

"William."

Dave's head immediately perked up and saw Henry was a few inches away in front of him. Dave quickly got up and dusted his outfit off.

"H-Hi Henry-" he stuttered.

Henry's facial expression was unreadable, "We need to have a talk in my office, now." he said. He walked off into the circus symbolising Dave should follow.

Dave followed closely behind while fidgeting with his hands, he didn't know if it was because he fell...or how he was slightly late...or something else. He hoped it was nothing too serious.

The two went into the office room, Henry sat down in his chair behind the desk. Dave stayed standing slightly near the desk standing up. He stared in anticipation.

"You don't seem so sure of why you're here, William." Henry stated, taking notice of how Dave would fidget and seem overall confused.

"I uh, I don't know. L-listen I didn't mean to get here so late- I- it wasn't my choice I just kinda took too long-" Dave went on, but was cut off with Henry simply raising his palm in the air to signal him to stop talking.

"As much as I'm upset of you not running on time, that's not what this is about," Henry glanced at Dave's now slightly damped clothing from the fall, "or your outfit getting ruined."

Dave sighed of relief, "Ok- okay, what am I here for?" he asked trying to stand up to look a bit more confident.

Henry cleared his throat, "Well, you are off your duty of greeting the guests at the gate. But, now you are off you're back to doing the usual. Since you've been greeting guests lately, has anyone shown up more than once?"

Dave knew almost exactly what Henry meant, "Well, I mean the Kennedy family stops by every now and then...but I think it would be too early to start drama with them. They just got here after all. But, there was another family. One son, he seemed to be about 6? Yeah." he explained.
