Chapter 7: Truth

I'm back in my house. I guess my brother had teleported me from back from Brazil. Luckily my parents were already asleep. The women from The camp are in my kitchen looking confused as hell. I guess this was their first time in Nebraska. My brother grabbed my arm and turned me around. "What were you about to do?" My brother asked me. I've never in my life seen him make the expression he was making. It sort of frightened me. "I wanted to make them pay!" I said trying to defend my self, but in reality I had no longer cared about making them pay. I just wanted people to unleash my powers on.

"Did you have to kill them?" He said.

"They deserved it, taking these women from their homes and selling them is wrong." I glanced at the little girl and the women that are in my kitchen. They all looked pretty afraid yet somehow relieved they were out of the situation. The woman who called my brother 'El Diablo' even looked fine. My brother headed towards the kitchen. "That cocky attitude of yours is going to get you in trouble." This coming from Jordan (the cockiest person on earth) infuriated me. "Eat a dick!" I stormed out of my house and headed towards Aaron's house. Before I get down the street I see a large bright flash come out of my kitchen window, I'm too angry to even question what it might have been.

"Is Aaron home?" I arrived at his house and his older sister Tara had answered the door. "You and Aaron are always hanging together, are you two gay or something?" I hated Aaron's sister. She was way too obnoxious. "Is he here or not?" I said firmly. "You know he's here, what else does his punk ass have to do?" She replied.

I got up to Aaron's room, he was tinkering with some gadgets and doodads on his desk. "What are you making this time?" Aaron was always making something. He's invented several useful things but he never wants to take the credit or money for his inventions. "Just something new for you. You'll see what it is when I finish it." I could probably guess what it was already. I'm sure it was some sort of footwear tech. I had just texted Aaron as I was headed to his house and told him about my 'flying'.

I had filled him in about everything that's happened. I left out the part about my random blood lust. "So what happened with the women?" he asked. "I'm not sure and honestly I dont really care." I was still angry at my brother for looking down on me. "Well the gloves worked perfectly right?" Aaron said with a smile creeping on his face. I rolled my eyes. "Yes Aaron, they were great. Speaking of which how were you able to figure out how my powers worked so quickly?" I asked him.

He leaned back in his chair staring at the ceiling. "Isn't it obvious?" He said nonchalantly. "Well no, not really. that's why I asked you."

He sat up in his chair and looked me straight in the eye, "you really haven't figured it out yet have you?" As soon as he said that my phone started ringing.
"Who is calling you this late? These are booty call hours?" Aaron said smirking. It was Aubrey. What did she want? It was 12:00 and she had only given me her number today.
I answered it and Aaron went back to his tinkering.

"Hello?" She said. Her voice was enough to make me forget where I was and what I was doing. "Hey what's up?" I tried to put on the smoothest voice I could. "Not much really just doing homework, have you started on it yet?"
"No I haven't even looked at it I'll probably just do it Sunday night before I go to bed." I said.

I am the king of procrastination.

"Wow! nice mr procrastinator. Haha" her laugh was too cute, I couldn't help but smile. "So what are you doing this weekend?" She asked.
"I'm not sure yet I haven't made any plans. What about you? What are you doing?" I replied. "I'm not sure either maybe we can get together and kick it on Saturday? I'm free." I damn near dropped my phone. "What the hell is happening?" I thought to myself. "Oh yea definitely ...I'm down."
"Alright cool! I'll come pick you up around 6 so be ready!" She said.
"Sounds like a plan!" I should have said date.
"See ya!" She hung up.

Aaron was looking at me, damn near grinning from ear to ear. "Was that Aubrey?" He said. I nodded. "Well I'm not surprised." He said. "How are you not surprised?"

"Well" he said "you are a neon, and your powers just manifested. That comes with a lot of other perks." Which brought me back to the main question.
"How the fuck do you know so much?" I asked him.

Suddenly all of the things he had been messing with on his desk began to float in mid air in front of him and began interlocking with each other.

He had powers as well.

"Wait! What? You have powers too?!" Even though I sounded surprised Aaron having powers explained quite a bit. "So what can you do?" I asked.
"Many things, some call it cyberkinesis or technopathy but it's much more than that. To put it simply I can control machines and I can make just about anything I can imagine." He said holding some teched-out shoes in front of him.

"Well fuck, does everybody I know have powers and just aren't telling me?" You would think I'd be angry at him. My best friend having powers for years and not telling me. "Your dad told me not to tell you." He said.

"So what are the shoes for?" I said taking them from him and trying them on. They were a black and grey pair of Nike SB's which were mine. He must have taken them from my house earlier . The soles had some sort of thick wire imbedded in it and a small screen in the back of the tongue.

"They're designed to help you stabilize while you're floating. Unlike your gloves which only use your power, these shoes run on electricity and will have to be charged." He handed me an iPhone charger. "They're built in with Bluetooth so you can load songs onto it and listen to then with some Bluetooth headphones." Grinning.

"Why?"

He was perplexed by the question. "Because you said you were having trouble when you were floating so I thought I'd make you something to help."

"No I mean why did you make them Bluetooth I have a phone for music." I said still confused.

"Oh I'm actually not sure, I finished them earlier than I thought I would've so I added a bunch of random things to them."

I wasn't even going to ask what else he had added.

"Wait! My dad knew you had powers? How? Why?"

Aaron turned back around to his desk. "I'll explain everything to you another day, for now let's go test out the shoes"

"Aaron it's 12:00 we should test them tomorrow I feel really drained." I said grabbing a blanket from his closet. "Suit yourself Jonny I'm gonna stay up a while longer."

I laid my head on the pillow and immediately drifted off into a dream.
