A few hours later
The call with Creed about the changing of who ran and owned Donahue Aviation was handled quickly and efficiently. As it always did when it came to her friend and lawyer. Creed had been kept abreast of the plan since he'd been one of Aurora's sounding boards back in college. He'd also been the one to ask her when he took over for his father if it was still going to happen. It's why when Pietro mentioned at lunch today that she'd been more than willing and ready to step up to the plate, because it had been on her mind ever since they'd gotten the call about her fathers heart attack. Having been prepared for this eventuality since his hospitalization, Creed had already had the documents ready. All they needed were a few minor additions that her dad had deemed necessary when he sent the first draft over to his house by currier.
Tweaks set to be made, the lawyer version of her friend had said he would have the paperwork updated and two copies, one for her and one for her dad, on her desk first thing in the morning. With things taking a little longer than she'd hoped for it wasn't until nearly three in the afternoon before Aurora was able to take off back to the Tower. There was just so much to be done ahead of the coming announcement. Besides talking to her lawyers, she'd needed to inform the board in an emergency meeting. It was a little annoying that ever since she'd taken over Aurora had to constantly deal with them breathing down her neck.
So with this news they could all finally get off her back. For a little while at least until something else cropped up. To be fair it had gone much easier than she thought it would. Seeing as now there would be some firm stability as she officially took the reins. The board also liked that her father would still be around. Even if it was in a much smaller capacity. His guiding hand was something they all felt Aurora would need in the coming months as the abrupt transition settled into place. And she was thankful for it. Having not spent much time at headquarters while she was pursuing her military and then SHIELD career, Aurora was a little hesitant, though excited by this next chapter of her life.
Still it wasn't only her life that would be changed. As her boyfriend and partner, Bucky would have to adjust to these new changes as well. It meant that while they continue to see each other nearly everyday, they wouldn't be working together anymore. Though their time apart might become more frequent. As the head of the Donahue Aviation and its subsidiaries she would need to travel to meet with those directly under her. Make sure that things were running smoothly, connect her face with who was in charge of things now. As well as everything else that came with being the owner and CEO of multiple businesses. Meetings with current and future investors, delegating and directing agendas, touring factories, even the occasional company retreat to entrust strong employee loyalty.
Another change would be all of the things Buck couldn't tell Aurora once she lost her clearance. And that was okay. Having a clear understanding she wasn't upset about it. He still had Steve and the others he could talk to about classified information. It would just be strange that there was an aspect of Bucky's life Aurora wouldn't be able to participate in. But that was okay. This next part of their journey would benefit the both of them as time went on. Like if they decide to start a family for example. Being an active agent wasn't conducive to being the type of mother Aurora has always envisioned herself as. Being present as much as possible without her life constantly in danger was a big part of that.
Steeling her spine, Aurora made her way down the hall and into Bucky's apartment. Slightly exhausted after the flurry of excitement from this afternoon she was hopeful that he would be understanding of this new change in their lives. That Buck wouldn't pick a fight when she needed his support in the coming weeks of hectic madness that would be her life until things settled a bit as everyone accepted her new role. With a soft knock on the door as she entered his apartment her handsome boyfriend looked up at her with surprise to see her home so early.
