I definitely stayed at his house past 4:30. I didn't even realize we had been talking this whole time, until I heard Austin's front door open up.
Glancing at one of the clocks, I realize it was now 5:30, and that my parents were probably thinking about all the possibilities that could've happened to me.
I hear loud heavy footsteps approach the living room, as a deep voice speaks. "Austin? You here, boy?-"
Austins dad stops in his tracks, noticing me."..What did I tell you, about inviting this kid over?" He began to raise his voice at Austin. "I told you, I didn't want this homo in my house."
Austin stood up, from the couch, facing his dad. "Don't say that." He stated harshly.
Austin's dad would raise his brows, scoffing at him. "Oh? So now you're telling me what to do?" He took a step closer to him, towering over Austin, as I stand up.
He glances at me. "You. Leave my house." Austin's dad demanded. "I'm not going to have someone like you, hanging out with my boy, and turning him into one of you homos." He took a step closer to me, pointing his finger.
Austin seemed to take notice of this, as he pushed his dad away from me. "Back the fuck up." He said sternly.
I could practically see his dad's eyes fill up with rage. "That's how you wanna play?" He asked, a small smirk appearing upon his face. My eyes widened, as I watch the scene unravel before me.
*BAM!*
Austin stumbled back from his dad's slap. "Don't you EVER.. fucking talk to me like that." He had slapped Austin harder than I did, when he put 'Gopher' on my shirt. "YOU GOT THAT?!" He spat at Austin, grabbing him by his collar.
I could see the fear in Austin's eyes, as he looked up at his father. "Yes- Yes sir." He mumbled quickly.
His dad let go of his collar, tossing him backwards; Austin almost losing balance. "If you think you're ever going to talk to me that way, you are surely mistaken." He rumbled.
Austin held his face, where he got hit. I furrow my brows slightly, opening my mouth to speak, before Austin interrupts me.
"Jared go." He spoke softly. "Now, just leave." Austin demanded.
I shook my head. "No." I said. "I'm not leaving.. not without you."
I didn't know what I was saying. My words kept spilling out like a waterfall, as if my mouth was moving faster than my brain.
Austin glanced at me. "..Jared-"
"Go with him." His dad interrupted. "I don't want to see you, or your faggy little friend anyway!"
Biting my tongue from saying anything to his dad, I grabbed Austin's shoulder. "Austin, let's go."
He looked at his dad, who was practically fuming out of his nostrils, then he looked at me, giving a slight nod as he began walking out of the house.
I followed shortly behind him, making our way out the door; closing it behind us, leaving us to stand on his front porch in silence.
Looking over at Austin, he refused to take a single glance at me.
I sigh slightly, taking out my phone. "Im gonna call Tyson, and see if he can pick us up, alright?" I said, Austin replying with a slight nod.
Tyson was my brother that we adopted back in 9th grade, a few months after the "Shadow Club" was a thing. But that's a different story. He agreed to come pick us up at the small coffee shop that was just up the road from Austin's house. He's usually out and about after school, so I'm surprised he had time to pick us up.
"Come on." I glanced at Austin, him finally looking at me. "Tyson's gonna meet us at that one coffee shop, so we don't have to stand on your porch for 15 minutes."
We began walking up to the coffee shop in silence. I wanted to say something, but didn't know exactly what to say, so instead I stayed quiet.
A few moments later, Austin unexpectedly speaks. "..Thanks, Gopher." He spoke, I suppose trying to lighten the mood a bit.
I chuckle softly, patting his back. "Any day, L'Austin Space." I rested my hand on his back, all the way up to the coffee shop.
"My nickname for you is better." Austin teased, glancing quickly at me.
Upon entering the coffee shop, I let out a soft laugh. "Can't argue with you on that one." I admitted.
I glanced around looking for a seat, when my eyes landed on two familiar faces.. sharing a milkshake.
