"Please! Let me out! Mum! Anyone!"

Merida slouched down the doorway next to the broken chair she had tried to break the door with. She sobbed feeling helpless. I don't ask for anything..just...for him to be happy and to love who he is.......to love the ones who love him.

Merida thought about everyone that had stood by him. His family, his friends, his people, his lover....all of them gave him the love he needed to push through...but...somehow he couldn't see that now....

Merida suddenly gasped. She thought about every moment he had spent with him from the arguing to the bittersweet ones. All it lead to one thing he kept denying...the one thing he pushed her away....the thing he thought he didn't deserve....

"Love." Merida suddenly whispered to herself, coming to realization.

"It's Love!" Merida got up from her position as she took in the answer she desperately wanted from the very beginning.

"All this time it was...love!" Merida gave out a small chuckle for the small victory she had discovered.

"And you knew it all along, didn't you..." Merida had finally put the puzzle together. The reason he pushed her away, the reason he couldn't bring to force her into breaking the curse. It was because he was afraid of the one thing that was taken from him...he had forgotten how to give.

"Maudie the keys please." Elinor sternly spoke to the trembling maid.

"I'm sorry my lady but chief Fergus instructed me to hold on to this key until his return." Maudie backed away from the chief's wife.

"I understand but I need that key."

"I'm truly sorry but it's the chief's order. I must respect his word." Maudie gave a small trembling bow, apologizing as she got further away from Elinor. She suddenly stumbled backwards falling in her behind. Three red head triplets giggled mischievously as they appeared from under her feet. Each one of them ran towards a doorway, blocking an exit for the maid to escape. Hamish gave her a signal to give up the key, while the other two boys punched their fist into their palm, smirking playfully.

"Alright Maudie, let's try this again. Give me the key or else. While we respect the chief's decision, let me remind you I'm the chief's wife and second in command. While my husband does a wonderful job on his own in taking care of the townsfolk's. I also am part of the influence of my husband. By that means, I will have it seized that you will not have a job if you do not give me that key and forbid it I'll make sure that each town refuses to take you in!" Elinor felt disgusted by her tone and threat. She truly hated using her power this way.

The three boys snickered and gave out tsk tsk sounds towards Maudie. Indicating her to obey or else.

Maudie looked at the triplets and back to Elinor. Without hesitation she took out the key and with trembling hands gave it to Elinor.

"Thank you Maudie."

Elinor grabbed the key as she gave Maudie a hug of gratitude. She started to walk away before turning back to her servant.

"I'll make sure to give you a good raise and a proper gratitude. I apologize for my nasty behavior just now but my daughter needs my help."

"Mum! Get me out of here please!"

"Don't worry I got the key! Your horse is ready as well in the front courtyard."

Elinor opened the door with one swift motion. Merida quickly hugged her before starting to run downstairs, Elinor following along. Just as they got outside Merida saw her horse, Angus being held by Maudie. She smiled at the maid, thanking her, and with one jump she was on. She was about to pulled the reins when her mother called out to her.

"Wait! I'll come with you." Elinor face showed a worried and scared expression. She took hold of Angus reins, making sure her daughter wouldn't leave her so sudden. She was still hesitant for her safety.

"It'll slow done Angus....you guys can catch up to me......." She couldn't ignore the worried look her mum was giving her.

"It's alright ma, don't worry. I know how to fix all this. Just trust me." Merida made a eye contact with her mother pleading to give her the green light she needed from her mother once more.

Elinor gave out a sigh as she slowly let go of the horse's reins and gave a small nod of approval.
"Alright, I'll be right behind you."

"Thanks mum."

"Merida!...."

The red head turned to face Elinor once more..

"Be brave."

"...........I will."

With that, Merida gave out a loud hiyah to Angus and without another glance Elinor saw Merida galloped until she was out of view.

"Good luck my wee lass."
