Adam grabbed my hand.
"Hey, do you want to go request a song," he asked me.
"Sure hon." We wiggled our way through the crowd and found our way to the front stage. The DJ seemed to be in his own world up there, quite like Adam when he was working. I had to wave at him to get his attention. He took off his headphones and placed them around his neck, looking slightly irritated that we interrupted him.
"We'd like to request a song," Adam spoke.
"Sorry man, the list is really long. I have way too many requests right now," he replied.
"Oh okay," I said. We proceeded back to our place in the corner, among many of my model friends. GiGi approached us carrying a fancy drink, alcoholic I presumed.
"You guys have to try their Mai Tai! It's like sunshine in a glass," she exclaimed.
"How about I go grab us two," Adam said as he disappeared into the mass of people. A girl in a red, skin bearing dress hugged me from the side which took me by surprise.
"Oh sorry! Did I scare you? It's Selena."
"Oh hey Selena! How are you," I responded.
"I'm doing great. How are things with you and Calvin?" She asked.
"He's such a sweet guy and I just feel so lucky to be with him."
"Aw that's wonderful, I'm glad to see you happy. See you later, I have to go find Hailee."
"Bye!" I shouted. Adam came back with two drinks in his hands, trying not to spill them. I grabbed one and took a sip.
"Wow, GiGi was right! This is amazing," I told Adam. As we drank our Mai Tais, we danced along to Uptown Funk, which wasn't exactly ballroom music but that song sure was catchy. The song came to an end and I was wondering what the DJ would play next when I heard the familiar guitar strumming coming from the speakers.
"Oh my gosh, is this-" I began as Adam cut me off.
"May I have this dance?" he asked me. I blushed, feeling like I was thirteen again at a school dance.
"Did you request this?" I questioned.
"Maybe...," he said in that adorable way that made me want to kiss him.
"How did you-"
"We had a little DJ to DJ talk."
"You're the best," I whispered in his ear as he took my hand and pulled me to the center of the dance floor. The words began: "there I was again tonight, forcing laughter faking smiles. Same old tired lonely place."
He placed his hands on my waist and I wrapped mine around his neck. We slowly rocked back and forth, contemplating the beauty of each other's eyes. His reminded me of the earth, mostly blue, but with patches of green and brown scattered about.
Other couples joined in, but in my heart I knew that this song was meant for us.
