Heaven is -and will forever be- banned from having any direct contact with the mortals on earth. This rule had been placed by God Herself. However, they were allowed to observe them. Most angels didn't take time to do this except one, Hester.
Hester has always been strange, or at least not like the others. This was mainly because she was so fascinated with humans. Probably because she had never gotten to be a human, unlike some of the angels. The angels who had been mortal once did not have wings, it set them apart. Some of the original angels looked up to them for being accepted to Heaven.
Hester's sister, Josephine, could not be bothered with them. She saw them as quinine pigs, unless vermin. Josephine had tried countless times before to talk her sister out of her fantasies but was denied her services.
Hester lay in a long white gown on the peach, golden clouds, colored by the sun's rays. Her long brunette hair falls off her shoulders as she rests on her stomach, staring through a hole in the clouds, down at the green and blue planet below.
Not far above Hester, Josephine was flying with another angel. The two parted once she saw Hester and Josephine slowly lowered herself beside Hester, her large wings forcing a breeze towards Hester and stretching the clouds wound.
Hester glanced back at her before giving her focus back to earth. The two girls exchanged a Hello as Josephine lay beside her. "How are you?" Hester asks her sister. Josephine shrugged and looked through the Hole. "What are you looking at?"
Hester shifted, moving her left arm out to point down at the earth. She quickly retreats her arm and smiles, realizing her sister won't be able to see what she sees. "I've been watching a girl," Josephine glances at her, waiting for her to continue, "Her father just came back from the military and their having a small reunion." Josephine rolled her eyes, not understanding the hype.
"Hester, you're glowing," Hester looks down at herself. Her skin, glowing in a soft golden glow. "You're getting attached," Josephine warns.
"She won't find out," Hester replied, her glow dimming. Josephine gives her a wishful smile. "The prayer grantees are having a meeting today, they wish for your presence," Josephine says, grabbing her hand, "come on." she said, lifting Hester into the air.
The two flew towards a large white concrete building on a raised floor, the Throne room, light reflecting off the walls temporarily blinding anyone who looked at it. The outside was adorned with colossal columns that disappeared in higher clouds making the building look infinite.
At the base of the building eight-foot statues of women, carved in meticulous detail stood, carved to look like they were holding the building. Each of the women were carved differently, yet each expression radiates wisdom and grace.
Hester had never been this close to the building, as it was prohibited to anyone who wasn't invited. On either side of the building there were stairs which meet in the middle. The girls took the right stair. Each step seemed to whisper the voices of souls that have taken the same path, each one lingering as they moved to the next.
Inside the hall the was practically empty and stretched like a vast hallway with no ceiling. Above there were only clouds, and the warm sun. At the end of the long room were seven thrones. There was a large throne surrounded by six thrones, three on either side, which faced inward in a semicircular formation.
The large one stood dominating the others with its size and design and how it seemed to pulsate with power, making you feel small and weak. It was carved delicately with depictions of wildlife and flowers, some painted with gold. It seemed that the only colors used in Heaven were white and gold.
