Double Ridged Waveguide Horn Antennas Uses
For the horn type antenna, the most commonly used method to expand the frequency band is to add the ridge structure in the waveguide part and the horn opening part. The double ridge waveguide horn antenna is commonly used for horn antenna in microwave and EMC measurement. With EMI testing, the immunity and emissions tests typically measure noise containing frequency components spanning a much wider bandwidth.

Double Ridged Horn Antenna FAQs
Where are horn antennas commonly used?
Horn antennas are normally replace as directive antennas for radar, microwave radiometers, also taking as feed horns for large antenna structures such as parabolic antennas. In addition, double ridged waveguide horn antenna also can be used for calibration and testing scenarios for testing other antennas.
What is ridged horn antenna in simple words?
Horn antenna is also commonly called microwave horn which is mainly for collecting and transmitting the radio wave in space. Horn antenna in microwaveis a horn shaped waveguide to collect radio waves and transfer them propagating like beam.
How does a ridged horn antenna work?
Double ridged waveguide horn antenna shaped as mathematical parabola. Signals transmitted by the horn are reflected forward by the parabolic dish and then shaping the radio waves as a narrow beam. Received energy is reflected by the dish into the horn antenna. The highly directional nature of the dish gives it a very narrow beamwidth and enormous gain.
What is the advantage of horn antenna?
Ridged horn antenna is advantaged in that they have no resonant elements, and can operate over a wide range of frequencies, and a wide bandwidth. The usable bandwidth of horn antennas is typically of the order of 10:1 and can be up to 20:1 (for example allowing it to operate from 1 GHz to 20 GHz).
