Spencer had decided to finally tell JJ about his feelings. He waited patiently for the right moment and finally found an opportunity when they both had a brief break in their hectic work lives. He carefully approached her and began, "JJ, I have something important to tell you. I... I have feelings for you. For a long time." JJ, lost in thought and deep in her papers, didn't seem to hear his words. She replied absently without looking up, "Oh, that's nice, Spencer. I'm busy too, but let's talk about it later, okay?" Spencer felt discouraged, but he nodded and said quietly, "Yeah, later is good." Then he left without saying anything else. It wasn't until he had left the room and the door closed behind him that something suddenly seemed to click for JJ. She looked up and realized what Spencer had just said. Her eyes widened in surprise and she stood up abruptly to look for him. But Spencer had already left and she couldn't find him. Panic rose in her as she realized that she might have missed the opportunity to talk to him about it. JJ rushed to leave the room and find Spencer to finally respond to his declaration of love. She couldn't miss the irony of the moment, because while Spencer had revealed his feelings for her, she had worked mindlessly and only later realized how important his words were.
