Adrien had been depressed ever since her disappearance, getting a word out of him took a lot of effort even from his friends, he couldn't bring himself to say anything that wasn't dark, or about Marinette, it was like the part of him that had been happy was just gone. Marinette had been the reason he felt joy after his mothers passing. She was not just his friend, she was his entire reason to keep going, he had to find her, so any moment he had free he was searching for her, anywhere he could even remotely think she might show up, fashion shows, photo shoots, artist alleys, he hoped he might be able to find her on his own, but he was having no luck.

That was the last thing Adrien saw, for multiple years, he was 17 by time his one dinged with a message from the soulmate app, grabbing his phone in a rush, he knew it had to be Marinette, seeing the single word, just one word, that was all he wanted, marinette had vanished, no social media, even her parents bakery had closed, there was no signs of her.

Ladybug
"Hello?"

Chat Noir
"Mari! Where are you!?"

Ladybug
"I'm at home? I'm sorry, but who are you?"

Chat Noir
"I'm your soulmate, just as the app says, but you disappeared 4 years ago Mari, I've been looking for you ever since."

Ladybug
"If you know my name, why is my name on here Ladybug?"

He couldn't answer her, cause he didn't know if she remembered him or not, he didn't know if this was really her, it very well could be someone using her phone trying to find the person behind the screen. "Alya! Nino!" He yelled as he got up from his seat in class not caring that they were in the middle of a lesson as he ran to his friends class. He was a senior now so he was on his final leg of school, and now he had just found that Marinette was 100% still alive and now she was responding to his messages and sending her own.

Nino and Alya rushed out of the class hearing Adrien, they hadn't heard him yell like this since Marinette disappeared. "Dude what's going on?" Nino questioned as he saw his blonde best bro running up to them with sweat dripping down his forehead and holding up his phone to their faces, showing the messages from Marinette. "She's..." Adrien took in a deep breath before continuing. "Alive." He finished, smiling for the first time in 4 years. The trio rushed off looking for their tech savvy friend Max to see if he could use Adriens phone to track down where the texts had come from. "Sorry Adrien, I can't track her down, the soulmate app is more than just coding, and if one could just track the signal there would be an excess in people just hacking the app and finding their soulmate that way." Max spoke looking at the trio, there was sadly nothing he could do for Adrien. "Of course...what would be the point if you could just track them down via a signal." Adrien felt defeated, his smile dropping losing hope that he would be able to find Marinette when his phone buzzed once again.

Ladybug
"Where do you live?"

Chat Noir
"Paris, the same as you."

Ladybug
"I don't live in Paris. I live with my Aunt and her daughter."

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

With that message Adrien knew exactly where Marinette was. "What did she say?" Alya asked as she looked at Adrien, the poor blonde looked like he had seen a ghost. "Where did Marinette say her aunt lived?" Adrien looked as though he was in shell shock, trying to recover from the fact that he was so close to finding her, to being with her once again, being close enough he could hug her. "Orleans." Alya spoke then dropping her phone, that meant that their best friend, the girl that brought them all together was just a 2 hour drive away. "You get your license in a month right?" Alya asked looking at Adrien, knowing he was supposed to turn 18 soon and would be able to get his license in a month if he got it right away. "Yeah, looks like we'll be taking a road trip to orleans for my 18th birthday."

Marinette was staring at her phone, she had no idea who this guy was she was texting, but her aunt had given her a phone once she seemed stable enough for the responsibility, Marinette had spent a year in a coma, and now was missing quite a few memories of her past, she knew who she was, who her parents were, and who her aunt and cousin were, but there were faces and names clearly missing from her memory, lots of memories that were missing and a boy who didn't have a face, but she felt like she had known him for far to long to just forget his face.

"How are you doing sweetheart?" Marinette's aunt Dahlia asked as she entered the room, Marinette shared her room with her cousin Bridgette, her parents were in no state to care for her so she fell into the care of her aunt who was the closest and quickest person to take guardianship of her in her family. "I...started texting this person, the app is called soulmate? Their name in it is Chat Noir, but they know my name, even though the name I have is Ladybug in it." Marinette was still just as confused as ever, she didn't remember anyone going by the name chat noir in her past memories, of course there were comments of cats and ladybugs having some semblance of meaning, but it never seemed that significant to her.

"You give the other person their name in that app, if you start to get a headache while messaging with them, Just stop messaging them and it should go away." Dahlia spoke, she couldn't have marinette running back to Paris so quickly, she'd only had her for 4 years, of course the memory loss helped keep her there, she didn't know anyone back in Paris anymore, at least she didn't think she did.
