Chapter 21
Regulus's POV
"Young master, please I beg you, I beg you, don't make go back there. Please, young master. You can ask anything of me, but please don't make me go back there."
I looked at my crying house elf with pity, "I'm sorry, Kreacher. I need you to lead me there. You don't have to enter that place, but I need you."
"Please, please, please." He continued to cry. I sighed, not having the heart to command the distressed creature to get it together and take me to where I need to go. I patted Kreacher's head gently and looked up when I heard someone walk through the floo. I see my best mates cautiously walk out of the fireplace with two broomsticks and halt in their steps when they see and hear Kreacher crying. I sighed once more.
"Ready?"
"...I think so but..." Barty points at Kreacher beside me.
I take a deep breath but I find my heir to the House of Black voice, "Kreacher, take me and my friends to that cave you went to this past week. You may leave as soon as you apparate us there. Be on standby for me to call you." I said with as much finality as possible with a glare to my command, not allowing any opposition.
"Y-y-y-y-yes young m-master." Kreacher stutters. I try to ignore the worried look on my friends' faces.
Kreacher apparated us onto what I can only describe as a big boulder in the middle of the ocean. I look around to see the opening of a big ominous cave.
"Kreacher, go now. Wait for me to call you." I bent down and pat his head once more with a softer expression.
"Yes young master." He replies quietly before he disappears.
"You okay?" Lena questions me as she grabs my hand.
I sighed before looking into her eyes, "Let's just do this."
Before we could step towards the cave, Barty yells, "Don't move! There seems to be a ward of some kind. Don't touch it." I looked at the area carefully once more. I can sense the ward. It's subtle but it's there. Clever.
"What kind of ward is it?" Dora asks as she takes out her wand.
"It's a blood ward," we all look at Lena, "I think."
Dora tests out the ward as she casts a spell. "It's a blood ward," She confirms.
"Well, that's great. Whose blood is it going to take?"
"I'll do it. Knowing HIM, it's probably asking for purebloods'." I offered. I take my wand out and use it to perform a small incision on my left arm, spilling blood onto the ward. The ward shines brightly before disappearing. Barty gives me a broomstick before mounting his with Dora. I offer my head to Lena before we all cautiously fly over to the mouth of the cave. We see a small boat tied to a rock right at the entrance. "There!" I pointed before heading down.
We examine the boat. "It's only going to fit two people. I'll go with Barty." Lena announces, making me scrunch my eyebrows together in protest.
"No, I'll go."
"No!" Lena yells a little too quickly. She's hiding something, I just know it, but what? "I'll go. I know what to expect. I just need Barty to help me. Reggie, stay here with Dora. You two can fly over to us once we give you the signal."
Before I can continue to protest, I feel Dora grab my arm and give me a look. I sighed, "Fine."
Dora and I watch as Barty and Lena get into the small boat and row deeper into the cave until they reach the small island right in the middle. I see Barty and Lena converse, not hearing anything they are saying. Dora grabs onto my left hand and squeezes it. I look back at her, questionably. "It's going to be okay, Reggie. I believe in Lena. She has a reason why she wants Barty with her right now. Don't worry."
I scoff as I look back at the pair in the cave, "I'm not worried." I ignore the soft giggle beside me. "What is Barty doing?" I squint my eyes at them, "What's he feeding her?"
"It's from inside that basin. Lena... She's in pain." Dora observes with me. Barty is crying as he scoops more liquid and feeds it to Lena. Seeing my sister in pain brings me to a panic. I lift the broomstick in my hand but Dora pushes my hand down and pulls the broomstick towards her with an iron fist. "Don't."
"Pandora, she's crying!"
"I know but Reggie-"
"Then let me go!"
"Regulus, stop! Let her take care of it."
"No, she's crying. They're both crying! Let go! Lestrange!"
"No-" We stop our squabble when we hear a yell from Barty. We both look over to the pair. Barty is waving his arms back and forth in urgency while Lena is slumped down with the locket hanging from her hand.
"Come on!" Dora finally lets go on my hand and the both of us fly over to the pair in the middle of the cave. I see movement in the corner of my eyes as I fly over the dark water. I look down and see specks of white underneath the black water. "What is that?" I slow down and mumble.
"Regulus! Hurry!" I whipped my head towards Barty's direction and saw inferi crawling towards my mates. I zoom quickly on the broom towards them with Dora. Dora reaches the two first to help Lena stand up. They quickly get the half unconscious girl onto my broom before mounting the other one. We would have gotten away but the inferi finally reached us and was pulling us down. "Get off!" Barty kicks one of the creatures.
"I don't think it's working. What do we do? We can't use magic!"
"Kreacher!" I called and a second later the house elf appeared in the distance. "Get us out of here!" I commanded and he pops over, grabbing us before apparating out of the cave. The four of us fall and roll down a small hill as we reappear near a forest. "Lena!" I grabbed my best friend and checked her condition. She opens her eyes weakly.
"I need to puke. Help me?" I nodded as I lifted her up and bent her over so she could do her business.
"I got her, Reggie." I nodded at Dora before letting her go. Lena pukes out pure black gooey liquid.
"Ughhhh." Barty makes a face as he watches the liquid burn the grass and spreads.
"Dark magic." I mumbled.
"Will she be ok?" The three of us look at each other in worry. Usually the person who would tell us what to do in this kind of situation is Lena.
