DUBEM
I sat there, my mind racing as I tried to figure out what to say to Ama. I wanted to be there for her, to comfort her, but I didn't want to make things worse. The silence between us was suffocating, and I felt like I was trapped in it.
I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. I wanted to find the right words, but they eluded me. I was caught in a moment that seemed to stretch on forever.
I felt Ama trembling next to me, and I could see the worry and fear in her eyes. I wanted to help her, to make her feel safe and secure, but I wasn't sure how. I sat there, letting my hand rest on her knee, hoping it would bring her some comfort.
Finally, the silence was broken by Ama's quiet voice. "I'm not okay," she said, her voice barely audible. "I'm going to find the culprit and clear my name."
I was surprised by the strength of her words, the determination in her voice.
"I'll be with you every step of the way,we going to do it together" I replied, pulling her close. I felt her heart beating against my chest, and I leaned in to kiss her softly. Our lips met and lingered for a moment, and then parted. I looked into her eyes, hoping to see some of the fear fade away.
I pulled her into another kiss.
She sighed and relaxed into my embrace, her body melting against mine. I felt her breath on my lips, her touch sending shivers through my body. I wanted to keep her safe. I wanted to give her everything she needed, and more.
I kissed her again, gently, my hands resting lightly on her waist. I felt her body lean into mine, and I held her close. In that moment, everything else faded away, and it was just the two of us.
As we held each other close, a sudden wave of darkness washed over me, and I pulled away, my body trembling. "I'm sorry, Ama," I said, my voice hoarse. I could see the confusion in her eyes, and I knew I had to explain.
"I can't do this," I said, my words tumbling out in a rush. not right now. not when you ain't ready." Ama looked at me, hurt and disbelief in her expression.
"Why?" she asked, her voice small and uncertain.
"Goodnight, Ama," I said, moving toward the door. But before I could open it, she grabbed my arm, her touch stopping me in my tracks.
"Dubem, I want to talk," she said, her voice low. "I've been thinking about you ever since...that night at dublin."
I turned to face her, my heart racing. "I thought you regretted it," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "You said it was a mistake."
"I was confused," she said, her eyes pleading for understanding. "I didn't know what to think.
I felt like my heart was being torn in two. I loved Ama, but I couldn't be her rebound, or the person she turned to because she was unsure.
"I don't want your confusion to hurt me," I said leaving as Ama called after me, but I didn't stop. I couldn't bring myself to look back at her, knowing it would break my resolve.
I walked down the hallway, my heart pounding. I knew I had to keep my distance from Ama, for my own sake.
But how can I do that, with all this going on.
But it felt like a part of me was being ripped away as I walked away from her.All I could do was hope that one day, Ama would figure out what she really wanted. Until then, I had to focus on myself.
Busola
My anger finally boiled over, and I marched into Dubem's office, not caring who saw me. "What the hell is going on?" I demanded, my voice shaking with rage. "You've been ignoring me for the whole day, and now you're spending all your time with Ama? What's going on?"
