Poison

He looked at her lifeless body, lying right in his arms, tears were falling from his eyes. "I should have done better." He said between his sobs.

"Hyung, it was impossible for you to save her, there was nothing you could do about it." Ni-ki said as he looked at the older one with worry in his eyes. "Some will survive but some won't, it is the nature, it is how it works."

Not some moments ago, they were fine, all laughing and having fun but nothing lasts forever and he knew that, when she died right in his arms, saying "Thank you, Heeseung, thank you for every sweet memory you gave me." Then her body became motionless and turned grey.

"She didn't have to sacrifice herself to save me." The scene of her stabbing herself with the stake came before his eyes once again and he let out a cry which was full of evident agony.

They were running in the woods, giggling and having fun before she suddenly became silent.

"Areum, are you okay?" Heeseung asked, full of worry in his tone as he noticed her sudden change.

"We're all good, Heeseung but we can't.. We can't be together." She suddenly said. Her words were like daggers thrown into his heart.

"Why Areum? Everything was fine.. What made you change your mind now?" He said with a quite uneasy tone. "My family won't allow it. I don't want them to learn this, they might hurt you." She said, tears falling from her eyes.

"They don't want me to be with you and I don't think I can do without you.. I don't have much choice, I don't have much choice left."

"Then stay with me Areum! If you think you can't do without me, why don't you stay with me? Everything will be okay if you do so."

"I was born to hunt, not to be hunted. I brought up that way but now look at me, I'm all desperate. If I don't do this, they will kill you, why don't you understand me, Heeseung?"

She grabbed a fallen tree branch from the ground which was quite dry but strong enough, then she broke it into two. "I'm sorry Heeseung, this is for your own sake."

"Meet me in afterlife when your time comes but not now. I'm sorry for being have to leave you like this but this is the only way to save you." She then stabbed herself right in her heart, falling into his arms."Thank you, Heeseung, thank you for every sweet memory you gave me." Then her body became motionless and turned grey.

There was nothing more peaceful to her to die in her former lover's arms, peacefully, looking at him and smiling. This was a moment and face he wouldn't forget for centuries.

He couldn't forget the incident and her face for centuries, all he was thinking about was her and her sudden passing. The memories they had together were like poison running through his veins.
