•Sunday Together•
Sunday morning had arrived the moment that Naomi had been waiting for. When her family left out of the house they were the first ones to arrive at church because they had to get everything prepared before the doors of the church could open. When the hour struck nine Naomi had opened the doors and let the other church members in. She waited at the door for Leroy then she saw him dressed in a brown suit walking towards her. She led him to the Sunday class for the youth and hugged him.
"I'm so excited that you're here!!" Naomi exclaimed.
"I'm just as excited as you are!" Leroy replied, "My mom said hello by the way."
"Tell Mrs London I said hello!" Naomi smiled.
Then the Sunday teacher came up and said, "Well I wasn't aware that we had a new student."
"Yes, we do!" Naomi smiled, "This is Leroy, and Leroy this is our teacher Ms Springs."
"It's nice to meet you, Ms Springs!" Leroy lent his hand for a handshake.
"So it's nice to meet you too! Are you two dating?" Ms Springs asked.
They both shook their heads no and denied it. It's pretty self-explanatory why they had to lie and Leroy played along with it as well. But only God knows how badly Naomi wanted to brag that she and Leroy were together.
Naomi stated, "He's just a friend from school and he didn't wanna go to his normal church so he decided to come to mine."
"Well, I hope you began to like it here!" Ms Springs smiled kindly, "I must say you two make the perfect couple! You could've fooled me."
Ms. Springs walked away, leaving Naomi and Leroy grinning at each other mischievously. They quietly sat down, holding hands under the desk, while Ms. Springs started talking about "Stress." Leroy seemed very engaged and nodded along, which made Naomi happy because her first love decided to go above and beyond for her.
Ms Springs then asked, "Who knows why Peter began to sink?"
Leroy raised his hand and Ms Springs pointed at him.
Leroy answered, "Because he took his eyes off of Jesus and he looked down at the water."
"Not at the water!" Ms Springs replied, "But he looked down at the situation!"
Everybody cheered and Ms Springs said, "Let me tell y'all why it's never okay to stress. Because while Peter was walking on the water wasn't it the power of Jesus that kept him afloat along the way?"
Everybody said yes and Ms Springs asked, "So please explain to me why would he take his eyes off Jesus when he was the only person that could keep him on top?"
Naomi raised her hand and Ms Springs picked on her then said, "Because he was scared!"
"Okay that's good but let me add a little more to it." Ms Springs said, "He took his focus off God and looked at the water because sometimes we, as humans can be so stressed about situations and our battles we forget about who's keeping us afloat!"
"YES!!" Everybody cheered.
Ms Springs continued, "What we've learned today so far is...when you're in a battle or a situation don't take your focus off God because first of all, it's not your battle to fight anyways. Secondly, don't doubt the person that's holding you up because just as Naomi said, when you're in fear and you're too focused on your situation, you can lose sight of what's in front of you. And you can lose sight of the person that's keeping you what??"
