BRUNCH WAS SOMETIMES fun. Unique foods that sometimes clashed, strange outfits, something that pretended to be elegant. But brunch among the Gods?

That had to be a disaster. Especially since it was on a Monday morning, during regular breakfast hours, which kind of defeated the idea of brunch. Not to mention Zeus was having his mother — Rhea — over.

Percy glanced down at the Chalice of the Gods. "I don't suppose we can send this Hermes Express?"

Annabeth frowned at him. "Percy . . ."

"Don't they have one-hour delivery in Manhattan?"

"Ganymede needs it now. And you have to bring it. It's—"

"My job," Percy finished with a sigh. That's always how it was with quest completions — a delivery by Demigods. "Fine. Any suggestions on how I can sneak into Olympus and infiltrate a godly brunch?"

"Um, actually?" Grover cut in, blinking like what he was about to say would be painful for Percy to hear. "I might have an idea."

The easy part was getting a taxi uptown. Cabs usually weren't their usual form of transportation, but it was the fastest way to get to the Empire State Building. Belle had decided to tag along with them, because Alternative High School was a close subway ride away from Mount Olympus, and she would make it to school in time after seeing Percy off. Unfortunately, they had to say goodbye to Annabeth so she would make it to school in time.

With a lot of reluctance, she had lent Percy her New York Yankees cap, which was something she never did. Her hat of invisibility had been a gift from her mom, Athena, so borrowing it wasn't something she did without a really good reason to. It would almost be like Belle letting another Demigod (with the exception of Percy, since their swords were practically duplicates, soulmate things) use Sunflower in a fight. That was her weapon, just like the hat of invisibility was Annabeth's.

However, when Grover pleaded that it was the only way for this plan to work, Annabeth handed it over. She glared at Percy and said You will bring it back. Good luck. Don't die. Then she ran off the couple of blocks to start her school day.

In the cab, Grover tapped his hooves nervously against the floorboard as he explained the rest of his plan — which was absolutely crazy, by the way, since it involved sneaking into the kitchen up on Mount Olympus. None of them were particularly worries about the driver listening it, because it was New York. A plan to break into Mount Olympus was probably not the craziest thing they've heard. Also, they were already unreliable narrators, since Percy had the giant Chalice in his lap, and Grover had insisted on bringing the Hula-Hoop with them.
