(Amity's POV)
"AMITY, GET YOUR ASS OUT OFF BED NOW," my mom yelled from the door.
I quickly get out of bed and changed into a black sweatshirt and jeans. black is my favorite color, and since my school got rid of the terrible uniforms, I will wear it every day. I smile at myself in the mirror as I put on my black choker. Then I remember that my mother would tell me off again and take it off. I put the choker in my pocket and go downstairs.
"Amity, can you get milk on the way home?" Mom asked as she gave me a fake smile. the one that tells you that you better do as they say, or else...
"Yes ma'am, I can."
"Good, now go to school."
"Yes ma'am"
I grab my backpack, leave my house, and start walking the 15-minute walk to school. I haven't gotten a plasmon yet, so I still need to walk. I grimace as I land on my leg wrong, a reminder of what happened the night before
*WARNING, PHYSICAL ABUSE FROM PARENTS IS COMING UP *
*flashback*
"Amity Blight, explain why you have a D in BASIC MAGIC" Mom yelled
"I'm sorry, I bring it up, please"
My mom grabbed me by the leg as I tried to run and I fell. She made a magic circle and fire appeared in her hand. I start to cry.
"No mom, Please, no"
"Don't tell me what to do."
She held up the fire to my caff as I screamed.
*End flashback*

I suck it up and continue to walk to school... until a feathery object fell from the sky.
"FUCK," the feathery thing said as it got up, "I am so sorry, Mama told me that my wings were not held yet, but I did not listen."
The first thing I note is the wings. Big, black, feathery wings are sprouting from her back. she's wearing black jeans...
(note the match!!! Sorry, I did that by accident and was proud of myself)
...And a jean jacket with a blue shirt under it. She also had a red benny on, which was adorable.
"Hola, Hermosa," she said, "I'm Luz, I'm also new around here."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Amity." I say nervously, "What does 'Hermosa' mean"
"you can look it up later."
(it means beautiful, look it up)
"Okay, are you going to school?"
"Yup, but I kind of got lost. The whole 'falling out of the sky thing' that just happened"
"what school?"
"Hexide."
"I go there too," I say excitedly, hoping that this can turn into a friendship.
"Really! Can you take me there?"
"Sure"
(Luz POV)
Amity was super nice. She was the first person, besides Ren (Rain), Mama (Eda), and King to not look at me like I was a freak, because of me being half-demon, half-witch. We also learned, by looking at my agenda, that most of our classes we had together.
We were sitting at a lunch table in the far corner. I can tell that I'm Amity's only friend, I guess weirdos stick together? Anyway, she had explained in abominations that she did not have friends, making her a loner. to make it worse, she was frequently targeted by bullies. She had started to cry so I told her that I would "punch those fuckers in the face" if they bothered her when I was around. That got a giggle from her.
"Luz, what happened to your wings?" Amity said, seeing the badges that I was trying to hide.
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Please tell me, I'm worried."
somehow that convinced me, "It's why I moved schools..."
*WARNING, PHYSICAL VIOLENCE IS COMING UP *
*Flashback*
"hey bitch, you come here," said Glen, one of the many who hated me.
"Why,"
"Because if I half to chase you done, you will have a worse time than if you just come here"
I join him in the alleyway. he points to a chair and I sit in it, then he ties me to a chair and tapes a sock to my mouth so no one can hear my screams.
He pulled out a dull knife, then said, "Let's make you normal," and proceeded to saw away at my right wing.
blood spilled out of the wound as the dull knife slid into my wing. I scream so loud from the pain that someone comes running to my ad, but not in time for me to not be awake by the time the witch who saved me comes. I had passed out from the pain.
*End of trigger *
we tried to press charges, but nothing worked. In the end, Mama and Ren moved me here.
*end flashback*
Amity looked pissed, "I'm going to fucking kill him."
"let's not," I beg her, "I will be able to fly in a few weeks, so I'm fine."
"No, you're not," the bell screams, "we will talk about this after school. Meet me at the front door, I going to your house.
