3rd person:
Two children native to China lie on the ground. Their clothing stained red, skin colorless, and bodies unmoving. Not even their chest heaves as they hold each other. The young girl and boy don't know each other but they had found themselves together amidst the chaos. Running from the rioting streets of a small village massacre, they were both stabbed by a polearm and trampled by the people and horses. The two dragged themselves under a small stone bridge, away from the rising fires and yelling. They hug each other as tears slip past their lashes and they say their final goodbyes to each other and this hellish world.
Two pairs of shoes, one white, one black, walk along the chaos. They're calm and collected as they search for any helpless soul. "Gege, there's nothing to be found here. No people alive that truly need help or any item that could interest the Heavens.." The man with the black boots stopped walking as he sighed. The other man, the one in white boots stopped as well. "What about them? That boy and girl under the bridge." He then started walking over to them. He watched as their souls separated from their bodies with anguish. "Hello children, are you alright now?" He knelt down and smiled as he waved. "Are you going to kill us?" The man in white shook his head and the man in black and red tried to soften his features a bit. "I'm Xie Lian, and this is San Lang, my husband." he paused. The two were terrified. They shook held on tighter to each other. "Unfortunately, you two are now ghosts. Meaning, you've died." San Lang spoke up this time as he lowered his body next to Xie Lians'. "But, if you'd like, Gege and I will take you in. Help to raise you as you're still children." San Lang has always had a soft spot for kids. Especially the ones who've had it rough. He did too so he can understand their struggle. "The boy looked at the younger girl who clung to him like a baby rabbit would after imprinting on its mother. "Both of us? You won't hurt her. Or me?" That young boy doesn't even know the girl yet he puts her before him. Xie Lian nodded before opening his mouth again. "Yes. Both of you. Neither of you will get hurt. Not her nor you." He held out his hand to the two children. The boy doesn't look much older than six. Making the girl only three. Such maturity in the boy already. And such trauma for the both of them so young. The boy grabbed his hand as he held onto the little girl and they were warped to a dark red and black manor through butterflies.
"This is where you'll stay. With us. May we know your names now?" The boy was quick to respond after getting over his initial shock. "I'm Xu Sying.. This is Fei Yun." Xie Lian and San Lang Liked the names very much. Xie Lian smiled softly and got down on their level as he's heard that kids often get scared of those that are bigger than them. "Can we carry you two to your new rooms? We wouldn't want you two getting lost.." The girl spoke up this time. "Can you? My legs are tired.. Sying you can still hold my hand." The boy nodded and temporarily let go. Once San Lang picked him up though, he was hasty to grab it again. The older men then started walking through the manor, up two flights of stairs, on a balcony and to a door. Through it was another hall with an archway and a sitting room and then four doors on different walls. One was a balcony, the other on the wall to the left was a shared bathroom and on the wall opposite to that were the separate bedrooms. "Here is your space. Xu Sying, your room is the closest to the balcony, fei Yun has the next one. There's a connecting door inside. Is there anything you don't like here?" The two kids both nodded. "It's really dark.." San Lang, with a snap of his fingers, had switched the colors of everything. The black walls were now a white marble. The linens a cream and beige color instead of red. The flowers went from white to red instead and the frames of the artwork remained a dark wood color to contrast. "Why not get rest you two? We'll let you be. If a man with a mask comes in, don't be scared. His name is Yin Yu. He's more than likely making sure you have clothes and helping prepare a bath. He may even read you a book if you like." Fei Yun smiled for the first time at this and asked for one right that second.
