《JAY'S POV》
When Jay rang the doorbell to Levi's house the next Monday afternoon, he didn't really know what to expect. Honestly he wasn't sure Levi's dad would even let him in.
Maybe he would change his mind at the last second and call their teacher. Maybe he would kill Jay and hide his body so Levi would be forced to partner up with someone else on this assignment.
Instead, the door swung open. Levi's mom was standing in the doorway. "Hello, Jay. Come on in."
Jay did as he was told, taking his shoes and coat off.
"You can follow me." Levi's mom told him. "Levi is already in the kitchen."And so he was. Jay wasn't sure how to greet him. How was he supposed to pretend he hadn't been sleeping and also very much not sleeping with this guy in one bed just two weeks ago?
And on top of that, to act like he hadn't been kissing him hidden beneath the stairs in school this very morning?
"Hey." Was all he could think of to say.
A smirk cornered Levi's lips, he was having way too much fun with this situation. "Hey, you. Long time no see."Jay gave his boyfriend a look.
Levi shrugged and mouthed a very brave 'What?' to Jay when his mom turned around.Levi's parents had definitely thought about this. They were sat at a small table that was placed in a corner of the kitchen, which was different from the dining room table which was in another room and frankly humongous.
They were clearly being made to sit here so Levi's mom could keep an eye on them while still being able to prepare dinner, because obviously acting out your homophobic duties to keep your son away from his gay lover shouldn't stop her from also being a dutiful wife and cook.
"You can sit down, Jay." Levi's mom said.
Right then, a child in a different room started screaming.
"Oh, I'll be right back."Levi watched his mom leave and as soon as she did, he kissed Jay, shortly.
He smiled as he pulled back, clearly having fun with this act of rebellion."Levi, seriously?" Jay quickly looked back to see if Levi's mom really wasn't there, secretly checking on them, but she was really gone.
"Who gives a shit?" Levi said, totally unbothered. "She knows I still love you."Jay ignored how happy hearing those words made him and focused on Levi's reckless behavior for now. "But still…"
He frowned. "Wait, she's going to be in the kitchen when we are doing the assignment?"The kid in the other room stopped screaming, but another began loudly protesting his mom's punishment.
"Yeah, that's kinda the point."Jay raised one eyebrow. "And it isn't going to be a problem that we are gonna be writing an essay on stealing, instead of something actually to do with the trip?"
Levi shrugged. "I already told my parents what it's about. I said it had to do with pick-pocketing in the city. Ridiculous, I know, but most of our assignments are so they didn't question it."
Jay laughed, realizing Levi was right of course. "Thank god for our crappy school."
Levi nodded. "Yup."He reached out and ran his hand through Jay's hair.
"Levi…" His mom said, while she walked back into the kitchen.
Levi rolled his eyes.“Levi, we talked about this. No touching.”
Levi sighed loudly, but he put his hand down.“Jay, do you want something to drink?” Levi’s mom asked.
He was glad she asked. “Yes, please. Some water would be very nice… ma’am?”
