-Whos that?-
We finally got back to a little town. I caught the name, Alexandria. They take us in the big walls, through a door that looked as though it connected to a jail cell, a very big one.
"Dad!" came a faint scream, coming from a little ways away. I catch a glimpse of a young boy, about my age, before I get dragged away by the leader of Alexandria. She tells us her name is Deanna, shes looks to be in her late forties.
"So, tell me about yourselves." she says as she sets her camera up. "Are you really recording our session?" Daniel says, being stubborn, as usual.
Finally, we're told to wait for a guy named Aaron to come and show us our new house. Me and Daniel step outside Deanna's house. A man comes walking up, probably Aaron. "Hey, I'm Pete" he reeked of alcohol, "welcome to Alexandria." As this guy walks away, me and Daniel share a mutual facial expression of disgust.
"You guys ready for your new home?" says Aaron, excited. We walked, what felt like forever, to a house with pure white siding, and a huge front porch. My stomach was in my mouth. We. We get to live here. We've never lived in a place bigger than a trailer in a trailer park. "Make yourselves at home! Deanna should be over sometime today to give you your job, Daniel, and Ana, you have school first thing tomorrow morning."
School? Wow, I haven't heard that word in what feels like years, which it was been at least two now since everything went down. I was always by myself in school, I never talking to anyone. School to me, was pointless. Teachers making kids with anxieties preach to the class, kids being made fun off, kids not being able to be themselves, and many other reasons.
It's been about an hour since we arrived at Alexandria. Daniel and I have finally settled in a bit. Then their was a knock at our door. Rick.
"Hey, Ana. Settled in yet?"
"Yeah we're doing just fine now. Thank you for bringing us here, giving us a chance."
"I guess I just saw something in you two. Listen, I'd love for you to swing by my place sometime tonight. My son, Carl, would love to meet you."
"Okay, sounds good. I'll come over in a few."
It was now, I'm guessing, 5 o'clock. "Daniel! I'm gonna head over to Rick's place now." "Okay! See you home for dinner?" "Hopefully. If I'm not back by 7, eat without me!"
The walk to Rick's place wasn't far, considering he's new here too, that means, no other people have moved into the houses next to Rick and his group. "Whelp, there it is..." I muttered to myself as I knocked on the door.
"Yes?" said the young boy I saw earlier. This is Rick's son? "I was told to stop by...?" I said, hesitantly. "Yeah, my dad said you were coming. I'm Carl."
"Ana."
"Well, come in."
"Ah, I see you've met Ana." said Rick, awfully cheerful. "Alright, you two can do whatever you want, I'm going to go walk around. Don't do anything I wouldn't do."
"Okay dad."
We decided on going for a walk too, since their wasn't any electricity to do anything fun inside the house. Carl told me about what had happened to his mom, and I told him what happened to my parents. He also explained how their group stayed together and how everyone is. And then something weird happened.
