A NEW LOVE | Charlie Swan

Chapter 8

CHARLIE  POV

I watch as Rubi has fallen asleep in my lap. I smile,  she looks so peaceful. I dont think anyone has ever showed her one ounce of respect or has ever cared for her. I could see it in her eyes whenever i showed some affection, it was like it was all foreign to her.

I shift so we are now both lying down on the couch.
She cuddles into me and i smile, it feels nice having her in my arms. And although i wished i could just kiss all her troubles away i know i have to take things slow..But i couldn't help but to think how her lips would feel on mine. Call me crazy but both Louis and Rubi draws me to them.

I keep smiling as she lays on my arms. She trusts me enough to fall asleep in my arms. She trusts me enough to let me be around Louis. The smile on her face when i played with Louis on our walk makes it all worth it. Louis is a funny and sweet kid. Being around him is fun.

All of a sudden i hear a knock in the front door I saw Rubi flinch and got up quickly as she froze on the spot and looked at the door.

"Are you expecting someone." I asked for a moment i saw fear in her eyes but then her eyes go cold as she glances at me.

"Not that I know." She said as she slowly walked to the door. As she made her way to the door I saw her pulled out a stick from well I don't know, it's just appeared out of nowhere which confuse me.

I walked behind her as she opened the door. Once she opened the door a man stood in front. I looked down at Rubi as she froze as she stared at the man.

"How could we help you sir." I asked the man as I could tell rubi is still in shock of see that young man.

"You should leave Charlie." Rubi said once again glancing at me which makes me flinch at her cold tone.

"Are-"
"Now" She snapped at me as she turned to the men in front of her. I look at the man as i finally turned to look at him. I could tell the man was around the same age as Rubi. The man is a tall brown hair guy with scars on his face. As I keep looking at his features I didn't noticed Rubi asked him to come in. Once he passed me I noticed him holding something which I couldn't quite see what.

I looked back at Rubi making sure if it was okay leaving her with this man but she just firmly stared at  me.

"I will text you later. I'm sorry." And with that she closed the door With a sigh I left. Feeling concerned for leaving her and Louis with this stranger.

~One hour later~

An hour later has past and I couldn't get an sleep. I couldn't stop thinking about that man. I keep wondering if that man was Louis father.

I walk down the stairs to get myself a cup of water when I started to hear Rubi yelling outside. I quickly moved to the window to make sure the man wasn't hurting her. I saw her chasing after the man and pulling him to turn him to look at her. They exchanged some words in which I couldn't hear and then I saw him kissing her forehead and walked away again.

"YOU CANT DO THIS TO ME, YOU CANT LEAVE HIM WITH ME." I heard her said which confuse me. Why would she said that. Is she talking about Louis. I look back outside and saw the man wasn't there no more I look back at Rubi and saw her going back to her house shutting her door.
