Confession

The stationary, a cliche baby pink like the color of Rain's blush every time he sees or speaks to a certain senior at school. He made it a simple bifold before slipping it into the envelope simply because he could never fold it equally into three sections. And on the back, he so boldly wrote his name following the words, with love.

He handed it to his friend, Som, at lunch time, looking nervous as fuck and telling him, "Make sure to put it in the desk where P'Pai is sitting, okay?"

Rain is skeptical but Som is the only person he knew who shared a class with P'Pai this semester and so, he didn't really have much of a choice.

"Okay, no worries!" Som said in full confidence.

That idiot!

If he indeed did the job correctly, why are they—Rain, specifically—in this situation now???

Rain is standing at his desk after their last class for today finally wrapped up. He's getting ready to leave with his best friend, Sky, when a group of seniors filed into the room—all with a rather intimidating aura.

But not nearly as menacing as the air of the student whom they then give way to. The infamous Phayu walks into the room, rendering the handful of students who have yet to leave speechless.

Especially Rain whose mind is in shambles as he watches Phayu walk straight towards him. And when the senior student stops in front of his desk, Rain finds himself glancing around. Because surely, Phayu can't be here for him...right?

Wrong!

The boy's round eyes widen to almost double its size when Phayu holds up a very familiar blush pink envelope in front of his face and when he flips it around in one swift motion, there it is. Rain's very own handwriting, not to mention his name written on the back in cursive.

Sky gasps, knowing that letter all too well. He was there when Rain wrote it after all.

But the question is why does Phayu have it? But as though answering his unspoken question, Phayu utters in a stone cold voice then, "You left this for me, yeah?"

What???

Rain is so stupefied, he can't even speak. And it's at this moment that he glances—more like glares—in Som's direction. The latter shrugs with a puzzled expression and mouths, "I put it in Pai's desk."

Obviously, that wasn't the case.

Rain turns back to Phayu, the little bit of patience the latter has visibly running out by the seconds.

Rain is breaking into a cold sweat, his mind running a mile a minute. If he tells Phayu it was all a mistake, isn't that the same as having a death wish? NO ONE crosses Phayu, let alone humiliates him; that's a known fact.

But if he tells him 'yes', that he wrote him a confession, what will happen? Will Rain have to...date him? The thought alone sends shivers down his spine. Not that Phayu isn't aesthetically appealing, he is. But he doesn't have the best track record when it comes to manners—in fact, he has the worst.

And Rain being known as the school's boy-next-door, it just wouldn't make sense for him to date the resident bad boy.

But wait, what if Phayu didn't come here to accept Rain's confession? Come to think of it, Rain isn't Phayu's type at all if he even has a type. Rain is the kind he eats for breakfast, er, in the bullying sense.

Which means he's only here to embarrass Rain by turning him down. And honestly, it's not gonna be the end of the world if that happens; many guys and girls have cried over Phayu after confessing their feelings, knowing full well he would reject them flat.

And that brings Rain to the conclusion that he should just "admit" to secretly giving him a confession letter, have Phayu reject him publicly and just get it over with. Right!

"I did." He says rather boldly much to everyone's surprise, including Phayu's. "I wrote you that letter, P'Phayu."

Phayu narrows his beautifully sharp eyes at the boy, wondering what he's about. Why secretly slip a letter into his desk if he's going to be this brazen anyway?

He isn't the first to make a move on Phayu and those who came before him were even more forward—almost desperate to win Phayu's heart despite his obvious lack of it. And this is why he never thought twice.

But for the first time, he's being swayed.

"Why?" He asks, stirring Rain into an internal panic.

Why??? If P'Pai asked him this, he'd have a gazillion answers; because he's nice, because he's friendly and outgoing. He's also athletic and a model student. But Phayu?

The only things he knows about Phayu are things that make him rather notorious; he gets into fights all the time, he has this crew that looks like they beat kids for no good reason and there are even rumors his family pulls strings in order to keep him from getting expelled.

And on top of that, he's mean to the people who dared to give him the benefit of the doubt and tried to befriend him. So Rain himself would want to know, why would anybody like this guy?

He's doomed! And the crease between Phayu's brows is ominous.

But then, Rain recalled this one thing—literally just one.

"Your project." He nearly exclaims. It sounds stupid, Rain knows. But he really can't think of anything else about Phayu that he admires besides this one thing. "Your finals project during sophomore year—the house models made using sustainable materials. I...honestly thought it was genius and that was the reason I picked architecture as my major."

He got a little shy towards the end, probably because it wasn't a lie. The project on display that caught his eye during the university's open house two years ago belonged to Phayu. It garnered less attention than the grander displays but to Rain, it was the most significant and awe-inspiring.

But when he sees the somewhat stunned look on Phayu's face, Rain mentally facepalms. Now, he sounds like a weirdo who had been pining after Phayu for two years based on his finals project!

But he tells himself it doesn't matter. The weirder he seems, the easier it is for Phayu to turn him down. If only he'd do it a bit faster so Rain can stop feeling so embarrassed already.

When Phayu finally parts his lips to speak, Rain perks up, expecting to hear him say something along the lines of 'you aren't my type' or 'you creep me out' or some other version of the same context.

But then...

"Okay, then. Let's be a couple."

"Ha?" Rain and practically everyone in the room exclaims. But Phayu isn't interested in repeating himself to the others, only to Rain to whom he comes closer and leans down slightly to his eye-level to tell him, "From now on, you're mine."
