~Two years ago~
As much as Ezekiel wanted to say he missed home, it would always be spoken with a hint of lying because it was truly sad to say he hated where he came from. Or rather who he came from.
Alisa Renne Sheldon was nothing short of a beautiful woman as he remembered before tragedy. She had such a sweet soul and that very hard to find nurturing touch around where he grew up. She came from a medium class family that had no problem disowning her after finding out she was getting married to some snob fresh out of high school instead of heading to college and pursuing a life for herself.
Alisa was hardheaded and very naive. Nobody could tell her nothing about herself or her choices. It was very clear she was head over heels for Ziek Edward Queen. College football star. But as happy as they were together, they weren't right for each other. Or he wasn't right for her.
Everyone told her not to stay with him but he did and offered her things her family never could. He came from a wealthy family so it was nothing to spoil her, but it came with a price they both would eventually have to pay.
Only 4 months into their marriage they had their first son. They weren't ready but they made it work. Ziek still in college and Alisa trying to figure out herself post highschool, it was indeed harder than they might've thought.
Ziek struggled to finish school and Alisa was suffering from PPD. Her husband made it no better.
A few years later, Ziek had to drop out of medical school. He would later start to blame the family he created and become very absent. Not to mention his family cut him off deeming him unfit to carry on in the family's legacy.
Things got hard and when they were damn near at rock bottom, Ziek was hit with a realization. So he started to work on things. Getting a job and providing for his family.
7 years after the birth of their first son, still struggling but making it work, Alisa got pregnant again. Ziek didn't want to keep it but Alisa wasn't raised on the belief of abortions. As much as she knew they didn't have the funds nor time to raise another child, she went through with it and that's when things started to get more drastic for Alisa.
Eziekel Sekani Queen was born. Named after his great grandfather who was the only family that kept in contact with Ziek before he passed away. Ziek took a liking to Eziekel but seemed to never offer that emotional connection with him like he did his first son.
Eziekel experienced a different first few years of life than his older brother. It was chaotic, loud, disturbing and unorganized. But through all that, Alisa made the dark things not so bad.
So it always broke his heart thinking back to the night his father was murdered by someone who he thought wouldn't hurt a fly.
He hated home. Because if he really sat down to think about it, and if home was where the heart is, it was Baton Rogue, Louisiana.
