How did Tay's "The Scar" find its new home on Mixi's account?
For me, as for many, "The Scar" was the book that opened the gateway to the big, bold, beautiful world of BrightWin fanfiction.
Given the cult following and special place this much loved story holds in the history of the BW fandom, it was with much trepidation and sorrow that many of us saw the author Tay Taylor's announcement offering for sale "The Scar" and two other equally lovingly crafted works, "Vintage" and "Peace".
It was clearly an immensely difficult decision for her. I reached out in solidarity and support, knowing how heart-wrenching it must be for an author to part with their work. The thought of it possibly not remaining accessible to the fandom at large was an uncomfortable one for us both.
We discussed options that may potentially have allowed Tay to keep ownership of her works, but they were not viable in terms of addressing more pressing needs.
I finally worked up the courage to offer acquiring "The Scar". Tay was very generous in entrusting me with this piece of her heart and here we are today.

What does this mean for readers?
"The Scar" will be published here with full credit to Tay Taylor as the author. No other reposts, reproductions or translations of this work have been approved or are permitted.
The book will be posted chapter by chapter, 3-4 times a week starting tomorrow (15 Oct) to ensure the book gets the right visibility on Wattpad (algorithms work a certain way).
I intend to preserve the characterizations and plot in their entirety as written by Tay, including her original author's notes and commentary.
Tay had started making edits and revisions in the initial chapters to account for language, tone and consistency. I may continue the edits along the same lines for the remaining ones to ensure the reading experience is seamless from one chapter to the next but I won't be making any material changes (additions or deletions).
By no means does this become my work at any point. "The Scar" is and will remain Tay Taylor's original masterpiece.
Please be patient with me if I miss a few days here and there in my posting schedule. We're hitting the end of the year soon and Q4 revenue pressures at work are at their peak 😭
