Souls don't just recognize one another.
They vibrate towards each other.

Maya was standing on the corner with her friends just waiting for the light to change so they could cross. They were in the next town it was worse than the one they lived in. But, somehow, her friends convinced her to go to a party with them. She's not a party person, but her uncle convinced her as well. Michael also informed her that he would be there with his brothers. She couldn't miss the chance to see him again. Spend time with him. The light finally turned red, and they went jogging across the street.

"It's just down the block." Cassie said.

Lilly, Lissa, and Maya followed behind her. She slowly trailed behind them. She felt this uneasiness in the bit of her stomach. Something didn't feel right about tonight. Something felt off to her. But she wanted to see Michael. She knew she was crushing on him. Liking him felt different from her feelings for Charlie.

"You good, MY?" Lissa asks.

"Huh." She says, looking at her. "Yeah."

Lilly could tell she felt off. Maya hasn't been herself lately. She knows she's been talking to Michael every day. She hasn't told Charlie. She knows he likes Maya, but she also knows he's been talking to Lissa on and off recently. Lissa always had a thing for Charlie. They both feel wrong for not saying anything. But, she likes Charlie so much that she's letting him fill her head with things.

They walked past a group of men who were blasting music, talking, and smoking weed. She tried to avoid their gaze til one of them slapped her butt. She was in complete shock. She didn't know how dangerous they were. So she powerwalked it to the center where the party was at.

"Damn, ma. Come back here with all the ass."

She ignored his words. She felt violated. They make it and can hear the music. The DJ was playing one of the Jacksons' songs. People were standing outside. She wondered how crowded it was. She felt her phone vibrate as they walked inside. It was packed. She couldn't take her phone out of her bag.  The place smells like weed, liquor, and armpits. She's not a party person but wanted to be here to support Michael. Her friends dispersed in different directions. She doesn't do crowds either. Her heart beats faster. Her breathing picks up. Maya contemplates leaving. She finds Lilly in the crowd and tugs her shirt. She looks at her.

"What's up."

"I think I need to get out of here."

"What do you mean? You just got here. We just got here. Give it a chance. Michael isn't even here yet." She says before turning back to her friends.

She sighs heavily. She walks around, squeezing through people. She's looking for an escape. She feels extremely out of place.  She can't breathe. She walks to the door, seeing the guy who smacked her butt. She quickly turns around. She finds another door and opens it. It looks like a closet. She couldn't lock the door. She leans against it and slides down to the floor. Her breathing was erratic. Crowds made her feel claustrophobic. Maybe she will call her brother to get her. She pulls her phone out of her bag. She sees she has a message from Michael.
