As the chorus began, Adam spun me around, making me feel like a princess. I didn't want this dance to end, everything felt so right. In that moment, I knew that Adam was the only one who could ever make me feel that way. The song came to an end, and for the grand finale, we dipped and he kissed me right there on the dance floor. It may have just looked like an ordinary kiss to anyone watching, but to me, it was much more. So many feelings were running through my head. The couples around us dispersed and I was jolted back into reality when I heard Karlie calling me.
"Taylor, oh my god you melted my heart out there. I really think he's your soul mate!" she squealed.
"I know, he makes me feel so loved when he looks into my eyes." A few minutes later, Adam came back with two more drinks. I never drank this much but it was New Year's Eve which made it acceptable in my mind.
"Two more hours until the ball drops and I get to kiss you," he whispered in my ear.
"I can't wait," I giggled. I downed the glass of wine he brought me without a second thought.
"Hey Taylor, we're all heading over to the bar to do some shots if you wanna come," Lily shouted.
"Sure, why not," I thought to myself. I grabbed Adam's arm and dragged him along. After a couple drinks and an hour later, I felt lightheaded and nauseous.
"Adam honey, I think the alcohol is getting to my head. Could you bring me a ginger ale?" I asked him.
"Sure, I'll be right back."
I vowed to myself to never drink this much again because at this point, I was feeling pretty awful. Adam came back with a glass of ginger ale and some aspirin.
"Where did you get the aspirin from?" I asked.
"It's New Year's Eve and there's an open bar, you'd better hope they'd have a lot of these stocked up," he responded. For the next forty-five minutes, we just danced a little and talked, mostly about ridiculous outfits people were wearing.
"Only fifteen more minutes until 2016," Adam reminded me. I flashed a smile at him. I was so glad that I had someone to kiss at midnight. Last year, I was single and all of my best friends were making out with their boyfriends around me. I felt miserable and I made a promise to myself that I would kiss someone the next New Year's Eve. My thoughts were interrupted when Cara got up onto the stage to announce that there would be a conga line to celebrate our last minutes in 2015.
"You love conga lines," Adam said through a laugh.
"Yes I do." I just loved the idea of a bunch of people having a good time and making a fool of themselves without caring.
"Well then let's go join!" He shouted. I could already see a small line of people beginning to form. Adam and I pushed through the crowd and latched on to the person at the back of the line. I put my hands on his shoulders, holding them firmly. I no longer felt like I was at a ball, but at a Mexican fiesta, and it was so much fun to let loose.
