Izuku's POV
It's finally the day when the doctor tells me what Quirk I have! I can't wait. Kacchan's already been told, his Quirk is explosion. It's so cool! I really really hope that I get an awesome Quirk like Kacchan.
"I'm sorry. You're Quirkless." The doctor said. I felt like a ice-cold bucket of water just fell onto me. What did he mean? There's no way... There's no way I didn't have a Quirk, right? Everyone has a Quirk...
"What do you mean?" My mom asked the doctor, but I barely register her words. I feel like I'm shut away from the rest of the world, that's how bad my shock is. "Well Izuku here has two pinky joints. It's uncommon to find this in children nowadays, but this means that he'll never get a Quirk." The doctor explained.
I felt numb the whole car ride home. The scenery blurred past as I stared out of the window, my mind thinking about a million things at once yet nothing was comprehensible to me.
"Izuku, it's okay. Even if you're Quirkless, I'll always love you and support you. You can do whatever you want if you try, Izuku." Mom says as we enter our house. She squats down to face me on eye-level, and she hugs me. I hug her back, thanking her in my mind for not thinking that I'm useless.
It doesn't mean that others don't think I'm useless.
"Hey Izuku! So, what's your Quirk?" Kacchan seems excited, but I am too.
"Well... I don't have one, but my mom says that if I want to, I can be whatever I wanna be, so we can still be heroes together!" I grinned innocently, but Kacchan didn't seem to have the same reaction as me.
"You can't be a hero without a Quirk! You're f*cking useless. Stop dreaming that you can be a Quirkless hero." Kacchan's eyes hardened, and he walked away, leaving me alone. My heart broke. My best friend and idol hates me, all because of a thing that I can't control.

Izuku's POV
I'm with my mom in the mall, shopping for clothes. My life is mostly the same routine: I wake up, get ready for school, get beaten up by Kacchan, sit through class, get a worse beating-up by Kacchan again, go home, act like school was fine... You get the idea. I really don't like school nowadays, so I'm glad for any break I get from the torment.
We're walking home from the mall, me holding my mom's hand. It's warm outside but there's a cooling breeze. Never would I expect that a villain would come out of literally nowhere and start attacking us.
I feel a shove, I tumble out of the way. The villain is using his Quirk, it's fire. The whole area is ablaze, and I can't do anything. I lock eyes with my mother, her eyes hold sadness, hope and love. She's telling me to run away, to live. I can't. How could I? How could I abandon the only person in my life who accepts me?
The heroes come, but they aren't saving mom. Why aren't they? I catch "nobody with the right Quirk for this blaze" and "have to wait for someone with the correct Quirk to show up". Why aren't they saving mom? What are the heroes doing?
My legs move by themselves. I run towards the villain and my mom. The fire hurts. It's hot, burning. I have to save my mom.
"Mom!!" I cry out as I get pushed back by a blaze updraft. It scorches my neck, bad. I have burn wounds everywhere. My neck is bleeding. I stumble back from the fiery wind. This can't be happening. This is a dream, no, a nightmare. I'll wake up and see that my mom is fine. This isn't real. It can't be.
Black dots are crowding my vision. Must be the blood loss. With my fading consciousness, I see my mom mouthing something. "Izuku, I love you. Please, live, and don't give up." Then I lose the fight to stay awake, and my world plunges to darkness.
First chapter!! I can't believe I'm actually posting something on Wattpad. I hope you guys enjoy the rest of the story.
