Part 1: Meet

It was the 18th of July. I had just broken up with my boyfriend 3 days ago.  He was nice, but I didn't feel anything for him. So I didn't want to mislead him anymore. His name was Max, and I hoped that at least we could stay friends.

Anyway, today we had to help a family tour our school. The school was a private school, and mostly sports orientated. I wasn't in any though. The family had two children, one that was in my sibling's grade, and one in the grade below me. I hope that we can become friends at least.

When we finally got to the school and saw them, I could tell which one was older. I smiled at the shorter one. This could be my new friend. I liked their outfit. It was a skirt and a knitted vest over a white button-up. Cute.

"Hey, I'm Li," My sibling said.

"I'm Y/N," I said after. I smiled at them nicely, and they smiled back, so at least they weren't shy.

"Nice to meet you! I'm Amy" The taller one said. Her nose was very shiny. Both of them had blond fades in the front of their dark brown hair, though Amy's was much shorter.

"And I'm Sloan," The shorter one said. They weren't actually that short, I probably only had an inch on them, but that was kind of the only distinguishing feature between them. They looked pretty much the same, despite the 3 grade difference. Well, now I was noticing the freckles on Sloan's face, and the shape of their face. They were pretty, I noticed their brown eyes that could melt something, maybe me.

We took them to walk to the other school building. It was kind of awkward. We started talking about some of the crazy things that happened, rumors and stuff, but mostly it didn't fill up the walk.  It was me and Sloan walking in the front, and Amy and Li in the back.

"It's kind of awkward to walk on a sidewalk this small," Sloan mentioned quietly. Shoot. I tried to shift away from them to give them more space.

"Sorry," I whispered, looking away.

When we finally made it to the other building, it took forever. We started to show them around which made it less awkward, but most of the classrooms were locked.

"I might just have to follow you around all day, I can't remember where anything is!" Sloan said laughing.

"Fine with me," I said smiling, I liked their company, but I was doubtful we would have many classes together though. "What is your favorite subject?" I asked, wanting to keep the conversation going.

"Hmm... History? Do you like math?" They asked. I didn't want to make them dislike me by saying no if they really did like math.

"Ehh, not really?" I answered. They smiled.

"Me neither" We continued to walk in silence and it was a bit awkward again.

"Uhh, should we head back?" Li asked. They were having their own conversation with Amy and it seemed to be going better than mine. We all nodded and started to walk over. When we got there, we headed to the cafeteria. There was no school going on, but some teachers still ate there because it was a boarding school. Both of us were just day students though, faculty kids.

We sat down at a table, and their mother sat with us. Their mother didn't look much like them at all, she had a kind of strict look. She taught English to the students who didn't yet know it.

I started to talk to Sloan about all the kids who might be in her grade, there would only be a few.

"Well, there will be Alice, Aubrey, Eli, Hurbey, Lia, Luey, and you. So definitely fewer kids." I said, counting on my fingers. Last year when I was in Sloan's grade we even had one less, only six. There are definitely more kids as the grades go up.

"Oh really? That's cool." Sloan said, nodding.

I heard Li asking for Amy's number and I decided to do the same.

"Hey Sloan, could I get your number? Just so we could meet up again if we wanted?" I asked, pulling out my phone.

"Sure! It's ***-***-****" They said quickly, and I had to ask them to repeat it again. I finally put it in and made their contact name them with some jellyfish emojis.

"Time to go," My mother said behind me. I sighed and got up.

"Bye, see you...later?" I said waving. They waved back smiling.
