Saccharine and Vinegary

Chapter 5

At 9:45 pm o'clock.

As they entered the living room where their mother/wife were sitting and smiled at them, they too smiled back.

As they sat, Isla and Ava asked about their day at the company.

Rick replied 'It was as its always. Nothing new. Getting client, dealing with meetings, organising operation models and getting plant program started. And  we also have just started a new project.'

James smiled and replied 'The day has been like any other but it was a new day as our children started their first day at college. Happy occassion reminds me of happy things.'

Oliver said 'That's why I want to say something. As Kevin started going to college it was a first time for him to be in the middle of many people and he didn't get scared and Rylee topped his high school. So I think we should celebrate this small beautiful occassion between us. What do you all say?'

Rick said 'I think it calls for a celebration.'

James smiled and said 'I too think its happy moment. Should be celebrated.'

Isla and Ava smiled and said 'Its time for celebration.'

Rylee just thought how does he know I topped my high school. Does he care about me that much that he ask about my affairs from mom, dad and brother. How lovely. He can't help himself and overthinking things in his head. He flushed till his neck.

At 11:24 pm o'clock.

Ava said to Oliver 'Dear can you go wake those two sleepy heads. Its dinner time already.'

Oliver smiled and said 'okay.'

As he went upstairs and knocked on their door and said 'Hey you two sleepy heads wake up. Its time for dinner. Kevin you have to eat you know.' After saying that he went downstairs.

As he said this Ethan woke up and saw
Kevin still lying on his chest and he was filled with an emotion which he can't express but was feeling happy for no reason.

Kevin was slowly breathing as he slept unaware of his surrounding.

Ethan thought how can I not worry when you are so unaware of your surrounding.

Ethan remembered Oliver shouting about Kevin's dinner time.

So Ethan thought he have to wake him up but he doesn't want to because he sleeps like an angle which will fly away after waking from his dream.

He feared the next time he will not be able to see such a sight.

But Kevin has to eat so he has no other choice than to wake him up.

Ethan touched Kevin's hair softly and said 'V wake up. Its almost dinner time. You have to eat your food V.'

Kevin's eye fluttered and rubbed his eye open and said with husky voice with a soft touch to it 'I don't want to eat. Its always protien and vitamins to me. I am sick of it.' and pouted.

Ethan said 'You have to eat V or you ll have no energy tomorrow and you are going to be sluggish all the time. Come on get up and lets go eat dinner.'

Kevin nodded and got up from Ethan's body and wore his sleepers then Ethan got up and they went downstairs for their dinner.

Kevin said after sniffing the aroma of food lingering in the air 'It looks like there is something special cooking in the kitchen. It smells delicious.'

Ethan said 'Didn't I said we should go downstairs to eat. Look your appetite is back.'

They saw their parents sitting in the living room and they went to them to greet them.

Kevin and Ethan after reaching the room said 'Hey Dad, Uncle. How was your day?'

James and Rick smilingly replied 'It was Good.'

Ava asked after she saw them sitting on the couch together 'How are you feeling Kevin dear. Do you feel good now.'

Kevin 'I feel fine. Now I am good.'

Listening to this everyone smiled with relief.

Kevin said 'What is for dinner tonight? It smells amazing.'

Oliver smiled and said 'Guess. Celebration dinner plan.'

Ethan said 'Really celebration. What caused this all.'

Rylee smiled 'Every moment calls for celebration. The reason is surprise.'

James said smilingly 'The reason for celebration is that its Kevin first time in university as he was home schooled till high school and Rylee topped his high school. Don't you think it calls for celebration.'

Ethan nodded and said 'This is definitely a happy moment.'

Kevin smiled after hearing the reason and was feeling happy.

Isla said 'Lets go to the dinner hall. The food is served.'

Everyone present nodded and left for dinner hall.

At hall there was a big rectangular table made of glass with beautiful etching on it.

There were eight chairs so James sat on right side of head chair following Isla then Oliver and Rylee and on left side Rick sat on the head chair following Ava then Kevin And Ethan.

On table there were different variety of food present like slow cooker spinach artichoke dip, the best easy salsa recipe, air fryer crispy brussels sprouts & bacon, tomato & lentil bruschetta, shrimp guacamole tostadas, crispy air fryer zucchini, cheesy chicken and rice stuffed pepper.

After seeing the variety of food all children eyes light up and they started digging in the food .

Watching this their parents smiled and started eating as well.

Kevin said closing his eyes savouring the taste 'Yumm food is delicious. It has been so long I ate something this good. Thankyou for all this and tasty food.'

Everyone said don't mention it and eat while they are hot.

They were glad they decided to celebrate today.

James placed his hand on Isla's hand and squeezed it gently.

On the other hand Rick kept pulling Ava's hand towards himself but Ava keep shooing him and she glared at him.

Their small interaction wasn't noticed by anyone as they busy in their own food and their own world without disturbing each other.

The aroma of food made the atmosphere more sweet and desiring.
