Time till Spring Ball: 2hours 14minutes 58seconds

"You're still going?" Mum asked. "Who with?"

"Yeah, I'm still going," I answered. "By myself,"

Two weeks later and I still haven't gave anybody an answer. I'd been offered to go by a few girls in a group but I just couldn't. Here I was looking into the mirror wearing a tux and had my hair slipped back. A tear slipped from my eye.

"All alone," I whispered to myself.

There was a knock at the door.

"Pizza's here," Mum called from downstairs.

I raced downstairs and opened the door. Stood there, in a tuxedo, was Jacob. Pizza box in hand.

"I got a job at the pizza place," he smiled. "So I can buy you this." From the inner pocket Jacob pulled a  small velvet blue box. "So, pizza or school?" I linked into him and we walked to his car. He began driving and he placed the box in my lap.

"What is it?" I asked. Then, my heart stopped. It Couldn't be could it?

"Open it," he said calmly. "I'm not proposing, I promise."

I slowly opened up the box and I saw a small gold ring with a small diamond. The ring had the word 'Promise'

Before long, we pulled up to the school. There were bright lights bursting out many windows. Silhouettes cascading out from every spot of light. I stepped out the car and put the ring on my ring finger. I held hands with Jacob and felt cold metal. Identical rings.

"I do," I said. Stopped, realizing what I had just said. "I mean, I promise,"

He bent down and kissed my forehead. We entered and the dancefloor was beginning to fill up there was a box being brought on stage by the head boy and girl- last years spring king and queen. Tithe headmaster stepped from behind a curtain clearing his throat.

"This, as you all know, is merely a popularity contest," the room fell dead. "I, myself, don't like this practice but you all seem to enjoy it. So here we go,"

The room began a low rumble of murmurs. The head boy stepped forward. I began to breathe heavily.

"You're spring prince is," he paused, probably for dramatic effect. "Alexander Mitchell"

A loud cheer came from the football team. Including Rocky. The head girl came forward.

" This year you voted Katy Mitchell as Spring Princess," a significant laugh came over everyone - they were twins and both had long hair which looked the same in there near identical crown and tiara.

"However," the head boy began. "Your Spring King is Rocky Patterson."

"And your Spring Queen is," everything became silent but I could see people cheer. My legs began to move on their own straight to the makeshift stage and felt my crown placed on my head. I was a queen.

"What a load of crap," Rocky roared. "I love this guy with all my heart. Sure we never came together but I sure as hell hope we can leave together."

I sidled up to Rocky. "Don't make a scene," I whispered in his ear.

"This place already is a scene," he shouted loudly. "You can stick lights up and backdrops everywhere, everyone still knows it's still a gym hall,"

I took my tiara off of my head and placed it back on the pedestal. "I want a recount," I pulled Rocky and took him outside. He staggered softly in the cool spring air. The smell of alcohol was oozing from his mouth. I gave him a glass of water and sat him down on a bench in the changing rooms.

"Listen," I began. "I'm here with Jaccob and I reallly like him."

"And?"

"And I wanted to make things official with him."

"Now you listen," he said pointing a finger at me. "We may be young but I feel so deeply in love with you right now."

I turned around, opening the door to the changing room.

"I choose Jacob," I spoke proudly. "I just can't hurt you, sweetie," I turned away and slammed the door.

I chose Jacob that night. I chose Jacob always. I even said I do. Rocky and I are friends. He was my best man. And that ends the story. Jacob was Mine and I was his.

Forever.
