Kavya stared at those golden brown eyes as she felt her loneliness strip and joy overtake her boring starting of the day. She had not realised it but she was staring and so was Karn. He stared into those hazel eyes losing sense of time and his alertness.
"How have you been?" Kavya asked, breaking the comfortable silence between the two.
"I have been good" Karn replied, wanting to say that he wanted to talk to her, get to know her more. But couldn't. He settled for the most subtle reply and kept staring into those hazel eyes.
"Why don't you come inside?" Kavya suggested, desperately wanting to get him to herself again.
"Why don't we go walk in the garden instead?" Karn suggested as he thought that she was intending to leave.
Wanting to already go to the garden, Kavya nodded enthusiastically and followed Karn outside her room.Walking side by side with Karn made Kavya the happiest woman in that castle. She was waiting for this since the last two weeks and she finally got it. There was a faint pink hue on her cheek and Karn did not fail to notice it. He adored how sweet she looked with that pink hue on her cheek.
"How was your stay in Ang?" Kavya asked.
"It was good, the people needed me. It truly felt like home, a place where people truly accepted me" Karn replied, happy that he had a home like that.
"I see. It must be comforting, being in the place which you call home" Kavya said, missing her own. But she pushed those thoughts away and continued walking. Kavya didn't know that Karn's eyes were always on her. He had noticed how her face which held the happiest smile a while ago, captured a melancholic smile instead. And soon he had realised that it was because of her own home.
"What was your time like?" Karn asked. Maybe talking of her home would give her some amount of comfort. And it did.
Kavya was glad someone asked this. She wanted to talk about her home so much and she didn't have the opportunity to talk about it.
"It was so awesome. The people were liberal, there were so many story books! Do you know I love to read? Then there were huge buildings and so much to see and so much to do. Your caste wouldn't be an obstacle for your success you know? You are free to create an identity of your own." Kavya said, finally feeling happy to have let it all out.
"It sounds like fairy tale" Karn replied, wondering of the fairy world that Kavya just described. The part about creating an identity of his own perked his interest the most. He was fascinated to think that there existed a world where his caste wouldn't be an obstacle to his success.
"It's not all fairy tale though, it's really bad at times." Kavya said, confusing Karn. He couldn't think of any bad things from all the things he was just told. He found it to be an utter fairy tale. "Why so? What can be so bad about it?" He questioned back, not really understanding how that world could not be a world full of happiness.
"Many people are not happy. There's poverty, there's environmental degradation and so much more. Theft, rape, murder. So much. The dishonesty among humans and the destruction of love and emotional intimacy, it's really overwhelming at times." Kavya responded back.
"I see." Karn said, processing everything that was just told to him. Rape? That's so cheap. How could someone do it? Theft? That's so petty. These thoughts filled Karn's mind as he realised nothing can truly be a fairy tale. "It sounds depressing, really." He added.
"I know, many people go through this disease called depression. It is crippling and it saddens me to think that so many people have to gro through it."
Karn had always thought Kavya to be kind and caring, and by the things that Kavya said, Karn's thought was turned into reality. It delighted it him to know how beautiful the soul of the girl infront of him was. She was truly extraordinary in his eyes.
