Snape clears his throat and continues.
"Before we begin on our Potions lesson, I am prompted to give you all insight on what we know about Reality Shifters." he begins.
Hermione raises her hand.
"Yes, Miss Granger?"
"When somebody shifts realities, do they stay?" she inquires,
"No, they do not. As of this moment, they come sometimes when they try, and sometimes without trying-" he explains "and are forced to leave at unknown times."
The class bursts into conversation, as it seems almost impossible to believe or understand, but I understand all too well.
"What must they do to come back?" I ask, accidentally speaking my thoughts.
"It pains me to explain the foolish procedures of shifting, but there are many methods. The Wizarding World has not yet discovered which ones are false and which are true to successfully shift."
Snape spins his body around again and numbers the board, 1-3.
"The first method we know of, unknowingly true or false, is named the Raven Method." he says, as we all copy it into our notebooks.
"For this method, people lie in their beds, counting down from one hundred, envisioning their desired reality. When reaching number one, they focus on entering that reality." he finishes
Hermione raises her hand high, looking super confused.
Snape sighs, "Yes, Miss Granger?"
"And then, Professor, does one merely.. appear in that desired reality?" She questions
Snape pauses for a moment. "Supposedly."
"That's rather far-fetched." She chuckles "I find it difficult to believe."
"Just as I said, the Ministry of Magic is working on figuring that out." he spins back to the board.
"Next on the list is the Alice in Wonderland Method. For this method-" Snape sighs once again, "You are supposed to envision yourself leaned up against a tree, reciting affirmations to yourself about your desired reality. Then, supposedly, someone from that reality will run up to you, and you will run after them and down into a rabbit hole."
"Are we to assume that one could simply stumble into their desired reality in this manner? " Hermione speaks, without raising her hand this time. "That's simply ridiculous. That method can't be true either."
"Once again, it is uncertain. And the last method, is the Train method. Shifters imagine themselves on a train, heading to their desired realities, while saying affirmations. Once they feel the train has stopped, they will be in tat reality." he explains
I hear students giggling while jotting things down onto their papers. I look beside me to see Draco has nothing written down.
"Draco?"
"Y/N?" he responds
"Why are you not taking notes?" I ask
"Because this is rubbish." he laughs slightly
"I know, but we might be tested on it, right?"
"This is Potions, it's not in his curriculum. And we aren't gonna get quizzed on it in any other class, not until it's clarified." he responds. I feel a small bit of stress leave my body, hoping this would be our last time speaking of it.
I nod as a response, redirecting my gaze across the classroom where multiple students have their hands raised.
"No further questions. I guarantee you all, I do not have the answers. I had a lesson plan scheduled for today, but I now have a headache. I will give you the remaining time to check your syllabus and go acquire the books you need for the semester from the library." Snape says, unenthused.
