Rebecca and her group disappeared from her spot on the field. John disappeared with then.
Elizabeth searched around the school for them, but they were no where to be found. The ice witch was practically going crazy. She barely slept and ate little.
Although April was alive, she seemed to be experiencing side effects of a frozen heart. She became easily short of breath and, as you can imagine, she was always cold.
Idina and Kristin were worried for both her condition and Elizabeth's. At last they came to an unfortunate conclusion.
"If April's condition gets any worse, Elizabeth won't be able to handle it," Kristin sighed.
"She would just crack. It would be the last straw," Idina agreed.
It was just the two Broadway actresses. April was resting, Walker was with his new babysitters, and Elizabeth was who knows where.
"We don't even know if April will get to that bad of a point," Kristin pointed out.
"Yes, but she keeps getting worse every day. Elizabeth doesn't even notice," Idina said.
"So what should we do if April gets worse? Should we not tell Elizabeth?" Kristin whispered.
"We should try to keep the extremeness of it from her as much as we can. She has been so distant lately, who knows if she would even notice in the first place. If she does see that April is seriously hurt, try and keep her from April," Idina suggested.
"What would that do?" Kristin wondered.
"She may worry, but she won't know just how bad it is," Idina explained.
"For now, we should just hope that nothing bad-" Kristin was interrupted by a loud, piercing scream.
Idina and Kristin ran to the source: April's room.
April was in front of her mirror. Her normally strawberry blonde hair was beginning to turn white. Not blonde, white.
"April, what happened?" Kristin murmured.
"I don't know. I just felt colder than normal, and when i went to look in the mirror, i saw this," April cried.
"April!" Elizabeth's voice carried into the room.
"Idina!" April exclaimed.
Idina nodded and went out the door. She found Elizabeth running up.
"Is April okay?" Elizabeth asked.
"She is just colder than normal," Idina assured.
"Idina!" Kristin called.
"Listen, Elizabeth, go work on finding your father. We'll take care of this," Idina told. With that, Idina went into Kristin's room and locked the door.
"Kris, what's wrong?"
"It's escalating quickly. I think it's worse if Elizabeth is upset. She makes everything colder," Kristin whispered.
"Get some blankets on April, i'll talk to Elizabeth," Idina commanded.
Kristin nodded and set to work.
Idina went to find Elizabeth.
Meanwhile....
Elizabeth watched Idina run into April's room and lock the door. What was happening to her best friend? Was she okay?
"It's all my fault!" Elizabeth mumbled.
Elizabeth ran out the house. The only place to go was the forest. "It's all my fault, it's all my fault."
When Elizabeth was deep enough in the forest that no one could hear her, she started to sing. She sang the first song that came to mind: No Good Deed.
Elsaba put her heart and emotions into the song, truly understanding it for the first time.
By the time he realized the true power of the song, snow and green sparks were flying around her in a fast whirl.
Elizabeth heard her name in the distance as she belted out the last note. She could feel herself growing colder, and all she could do was worry.
"What have I done?" She whispered. "April."
Elizabeth hear her name again. Anger filled her as she realized who was there. The snow disappeared as the green sparks lit the area. Elizabeth's clothes changed to a black dress, and her hair turned more black than blonde. The green of her skin turned darker.
"Elizabeth!" Idina whispered in shock.
Wickedness filled Elizabeth's eyes. "Why won't you tell me what happened to April?" She muttered.
"Kristin and I, we didn't want this to happen. Elizabeth, please, just come back," Idina begged.
"What is wrong with April? I deserve to know!" Elizabeth snarled.
Idina sighed. "Elizabeth, April is freezing. The ice is spreading throughout her whole body like it did for Anna. Soon, April will be completely frozen."
Elizabeth's eyes widened as the ice witch collapsed to the ground. The sparks died out, and the wickedness in Elsaba's eyes faded to sadness.
"Elizabeth," Idina began and took a step forward. As she did so, ice shot up around her.
Elizabeth wept into her hands, her whole body shaking. "Just go," Elsaba muttered. More ice spikes rose from the ground.
"El-"
"Go!"
"I'm not leaving you," Idina said. "Calm down. Let me help you."
Elsaba looked into her eyes for a moment before turning away.
"Please. How are you going to save April and your father if you are here moping about. Elsaba, bring the ice down."
Elsaba stopped crying as the ice spikes sunk back into the ground then disappeared. Idina waited a moment before walking over and sitting on the ground next to Elizabeth.
"Idina, i'm sorry, but there just isn't enough love in my heart to save April. Not with my father gone, too. Trust me, there is no way to change that."
Idina wrapped her arm around Elizabeth's shoulders. "Then we need to find your father. Fast."
Elizabeth leaned her head against Idina as silent tears dripped down her face. Her clothes, hair, and skin changed to normal. Well, not quite her skin. It remained slightly dark.
"We aren't going to find my father here!" Elizabeth said at last, rising from the ground and brushing leves off her clothes.
"How are you going to look for him?" Idina wondered.
"I don't know. It doesn't matter as long as both him and April are safe."
"And they will be."
"For once, I believe you."
