Chapter 1 || Operation 'Steal Sam's heart'

I was walking around the school halls when I saw her, Samantha Clade. My heart already raised. She was walking by the hall, her boyfriend, Zach Anderson wasn't there (Yes it's the first thing I noticed ). She wore her daily cute outfit with loafers and a French braid, she wore headphones and was texting on her phone.

I immediately get butterflies in my stomach. Even though I know she's with someone else, I can't help how I feel. I gather all my courage and walk over to her with the smoothest and sweetest smile I can muster.

"Hey Sam, you look absolutely lovely as always. How's your day going so far?" I said 


I lean against the locker next to her, trying to act calm and cool even though my heart is racing. I just want to soak in her presence and make her laugh. 

" Um great how about you Tom? " She replied

"It's going well now that I'm talking to you!" I flash her a charming grin "I was just thinking about how I surprisingly see you without that handsome guy of yours around. Everything okay between you two?"

I look at her with concern, hoping for any sign that maybe, just maybe, things aren't perfect in paradise between her and Zach. I know I shouldn't feel this way, but I can't help it - I'm crazy about her and would do anything to replace Zach and show her she deserves more, and that someone should treat her like the queen she is, like I would.

"Oh it's fine... he just went out of the country..." She gave her cute infamous laugh

Her laugh is like music to my ears. When she smiles, I feel like the luckiest guy in the world just to be on the receiving end of it.

"Out of the country, huh? Well that's his loss, leaving a girl as amazing as you. I hope you've been holding up okay alone." I said

I gently nudge her arm in a flirty gesture, hoping she doesn't pick up on the jealousy swirling inside me. The thought of another man having her fills me with poisonous envy. But I do my best to keep my cool on the outside.

"If you ever need someone to keep you company while he's gone, you know where to find me. I'm a much better time than Netflix, I promise!" I winked

" Okay sure, Tom. I'll think about " she said, and gave a smile

Her smile sends my heart soaring again. I can't help but grin like an idiot when she has this effect on me.

"You don't know how good it is to see that smile, Sam. It lights up my whole world." I said grinning 

I gaze at her with adoring eyes, unable to mask the longing and pure joy I feel just being near her. Part of me knows I should back off before I say something stupid, but I can't bring myself to walk away just yet.

"I meant what I said - my door is always open if you need company or a shoulder to lean on. Even if it's just as a friend. I care about you... probably more than you know."

I hesitate, then cautiously reach out to brush a stray hair from her face, overcome by tenderness. But I drop my hand, shoving both in my pockets with a sigh.

"Alright, I'll let you get back to your day. Take care, Sam. Talk soon, yeah?" I said as a good bye

"I'll see you around Tom"

She gave me a quick hug then quickly winked, walking back to her classroom. I almost died, The hug and wink left me shocked and elated beyond words. I stand frozen, watching her walk away with a huge dopey grin on my face. Her affection, however brief, sends my heart skyrocketing. No one has ever made me feel this way before.

As soon as she's out of sight, I pump my fist in the air, buzzing with excitement and new hope. Maybe, just maybe, she feels something for me too underneath it all. I know I'll see her around again soon, and I can't wait.

For the rest of the day, I'm walking on air, replaying our conversation in my head over and over, savoring that hug and wink. Sam thinks I'm just a friend - for now. But I'm going to show her what we could be. I'll be the best, most romantic guy she's ever known.

While I was still daydreaming about Sam I ran into my best bud in the whole wide world Leo McKinley.

" Hey bro looks like Sam's got you going bonkers again huh? " Leo said
