Third Person POV
Istanbul, Turkey
A tall, refined and amiable young lady dressed in an elegant and modest gingerline dress walked into the cafe holding a neatly folded white paper firmly. It was a small cafe with a cozy and homey atmosphere. She stood at the entrance, her eyes roaming around, spotting the person she was looking for. She walked up to a table at the far end of the restaurant where a young man whose attention was solely on his phone was sitting with a cup of coffee in front of him.
She dragged the chair in front of him backwards a little and sat dropping the envelope on the table, the noise created from her action gaining his attention. He looked up from his phone, the corner of his lips lifting up to a smile when he saw her.
Dropping the phone aside he asked "So why did you ask to meet here"
Ignoring his question she simply pushed the paper to his front as if that was the answer to his question.
He looked at her confusion evident on his face then he carefully picked up the paper and unfolded it. His eyes roamed around the paper reading its content. His smile now turned into a deep frown.
He averted his gaze from the paper to meet her dark, deep-set brown eyes which were staring right back at him with her hands crossed under her bosom, her pale upturned face not giving away any expression.
“Khadija what is this?” he snapped, his voice tinged with irritation and confusion.
“You just read it yourself, or do I need to spell it out for you?” she retorted, a hint of frustration in her voice.
“I don’t understand, what does this have to do with me?”
Her sigh carried a mixture of exasperation and sadness. “It’s laid out plainly. I’m pregnant, and it’s your child. There’s no denying that.”
“But… how? I thought you were on birth control” he stammered in disbelief.
A bitter chuckle escaped her lips. “Seems like birth control isn’t foolproof, huh?”
His silence spoke volumes, a blend of shock and realization settling in.
“My mother would die if she heard about this and my father would kill me. Jay I don’t know what to do” She broke into a fit of sobs and he was quick to move to her side. “It’s okay we will figure it out” he consoled
“You know I am supposed to graduate in a few months right and it was already enough with my expulsion. I don’t even know what to tell them. My life is so messed up” She hugged him crying into his shirt.
He held her in his embrace letting her soak his shirt with her tears while he rubbed his hand on her back soothing her.
“You know we could get rid of it” he spoke after her cries had died down.
“What?” she looked up at him with glossy eyes.
“Abortion. Lets abort it” as soon as the words left his mouth, she instinctively pulled away from his embrace, her body trembling with fear. Shaking her head vigorously, she voiced out her concern.
“No, that's too dangerous. I don’t want to risk my life and besides, you know it’s illegal. No hospital perform such a procedure”
A sinister smirk crept across his face as he looked down at her, his eyes filled with a twisted determination. Confusion clouded her features as she gazed up at him, searching for any hint of reason behind his words. He spoke again, his voice laced with a chilling confidence.
