Caryn (POV).
"Happy birthday princess.. " my parents both wished me.
"Thank you mummy, daddy" I said in a 15 year old voice and hugged them both.
"Ok. Ok, time to cut the cake.." mom said placing a cake in front of me gesturing me to make a wish.
Before I could make a wish, we heard a loud noise outside. I'm not sure what it
is though.
My dad went out to check what happened while mum follow suit , asking me to stay back.
Few minutes later I heard a gun shot and suddenly my mum rush in with a full speed towards me. Fear and worry visible on her pale face and grab me and started walking towards the basement.
"Mummy. What happened?"I asked anxiously
"It nothing princess. I just need you to hide in the basement, no matter what happens don't come out." She said trying to suppress her trembling voice
"Mummy, what wrong? You're scaring me." I asked not realizing I was crying until mum reach out and wipe my tears.
"Remember that we love you so much. Just stay here and cover your eyes and hears. When you open again it all will be fine." Before I could even grab a hold onto her, she left leaving this word behind
I don't know how long I've spent in there, but everything was quite, a deadly one. Even a pin drop could heard
I could hear my own heartbeat as I made my way out of the basement, about hundreds of things that could be waiting for me.
Reaching the living room I froze at the scene I was witnessing. I didn't realize I was shaking all over.
Tears started falling from my eyes as I saw my mum lying in a pull of her own blood and my dad lying next to her in the same state.
"Mum, dad" I shouted as I kneel towards their lifeless bodies. Shaking them. In attempt to wake them up but it was all in vain.

I woke up panting heavily and struggling to catch my breath.
'Another nightmare. When will it come to an end.' I thought to myself.
It been 3 years since the incident but it vivid as if it happened yesterday. Since that night I've been having nightmares nonstop today is no exception .
I checked the alarm on the bed stand and realized it was 4 in the morning .
I slept for a total of 3 hours, as usual no more no less.
Getting up from bed, I made my way to the bathroom, after brushing my teeth and washing my face , I made my way to the closet and grabbed my sports wear .
After changing I left the house for a run. I do that everyday before school.
