Brooke's POV
Everyone shuffled into the large classroom once the bell rung indicating that class has started. One by one the seats filled up quickly. I sat farthest away from everyone except Carter who sat next to me but honestly I didn't want anyone sitting next to me.

"Hey, why are you sitting back here?" She asked once she sat down. I sighed and turned my head towards her.

"I don't like people." I answered coldly. I wasn't trying to sound rude but I just didn't want anyone to talk to me right now.

She just sighed and turned towards the board and I smirked and turned to look at Mr. Montgomery who just walked into the classroom.

"Take out your assignment from last night." He announced putting his briefcase on his desk. Everyone took out there homework, and surprisingly I actually did my homework for this bastard. Mr. Montgomery is the strictest teacher in this school. I don't even know why I even took this fucking class in the first place.

After being trapped in a room with smelly ass students and a annoying teacher, I went to the nurse's office because I was "sick". She released me and I grabbed my bag and started to walk home.

The walk home was very quiet except for the cars that were racing down the hard cement. I kept kicking some rocks that were on the sidewalk as I turned into my neighborhood that isn't the safest.

I got to my door and swung it open to reveal my drunk of a father standing in the kitchen.

"Where do you think your going?" He slurred trying to walk but he just fell instead.

"To my room" I mumbled walking up the stairs and closing my bedroom door.

I went onto Twitter and saw that Niall tweeted:
"Can't wait for the party Saturday @louisTomlinsonoffical" Party? What party?

I did my research on this party and apparently it's downtown. I smiled getting a idea. Since anyone is invited, Carter and I will just go. There's this theme it's a masquerade so we have to wear masks. Perfect. I squealed but then stopped about a few seconds after. What was that? I've been hanging out with Carter too much.

I locked my phone and sat at my desk. And looked at myself in my vanity mirror.

"Maybe wishes really can come true."

Carter's POV
I sat in the cafeteria waiting for Brooke. Where the hell is she?

My phone started buzzing and it was a text message from Brooke.

B: "Hey bitch! Sorry I left early I went to the nurses office and said I was "sick" sorry!😁"

C: "you should be! Ugh I'm coming!"

B: "good cause I have good news!" Good news? She never has good news. It must be something exciting!

I quickly dumped my tray and hurried out of the school not caring about the people who were constantly shouting things at me that I blocked out.

I ran to her house and I literally couldn't feel my legs.

I knocked on her door and thankfully Brooke opened her door and not her dad.

"Hey Brookie!" I greeted her.

"Yeah don't call me that." She said coldly. "Come in I need to tell you something." We both went upstairs into her room and I closed and locked the door before plopping on her bed which she did the same.

"Well?" I asked trying to get her to get to the point.

"I found this really cool masquerade party that Niall horan is going to!" She squealed. I have never heard her be this happy before. Aww, it would be so cute of her and Niall would be together but her selfish self just doesn't believe in love.

"Omg are we going?!?!" I practically shouted.

"Yes!" We both started jumping up and down. Literally we look like 4 year old right now.

"Would you shut up Brooke?" Her dad slurred from the other side of the doorway. I feel so bad for Brooke. She came from a horrible past with her parents and they treat her like shit. You don't know how many times I've seen her come to my house covered in cuts and bruises from head to toe and have tears running down her cheeks. Really it's the saddest thing in the world.

Her smile turned into a frown at her dad's words. I have her a small smile hoping it will lighten the mood but it didn't.

"Why can't I have a family that will love me?" She whispered a tear rolling down her cheek. My eyes started to get all glossy for her.

"Aww Brooke" I cooed giving her a hug while she cries silently into my shoulder.

My mom almost looked into having Brooke live with us, but it had to be approved by her parents also so that wasn't going to happen.

"Well don't be to sad. We're going to a party!" I whispered into her ear which I heard a chuckle escaping her lips.

"This is exactly why we're best friends. Because you'll be there with me whether I'm down or just being a complete bitch." She laughed and I did too along with her.

"Best friends" I said to myself but loud enough for her to hear because we are best friends. Always will be. She's like a sister to me and I can't let anything bad happen to her. Even if she does something crazy I'll be by her side to back her up.
