In a world often too big to understand, where vast creatures roamed and towers reached the skies, I existed. Merely a strand of hair. I had always been puzzled by my own existence. I began as a bright shade of yellow, only to darken into a rich black over time. And then, much to my surprise, I turned white.

Growing was my nature, striving every day to reach my fullest potential, yet I was thwarted at every turn. Just when I felt like I was making progress, stretching further and reaching new lengths, they would cut me! Trimming away all my hard work and leaving me starting almost from scratch once again.

Despite the setbacks and the confounding changes, there was one constant in my existence: Pillow. I wasn't quite sure why, but every night, we were brought together. It was almost like a ritual—a dance of two inanimate beings, yet it felt deeply significant. You could argue we were no strangers; in fact, you could even say we felt like family.

For me, every encounter was an experience, a reprieve from the daily challenges. Each night, as I lay beside Pillow, I felt comfort and a sense of belonging. The soft, cushiony texture provided solace, and in its presence, my worries about growth and change seemed distant.

But as with all things, our time together was limited. Every morning, I was pulled away, leaving behind the comforting embrace of Pillow. The separation stung, and a deep longing settled within me. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. I yearned to remain with Pillow, to bask in the perpetual warmth and familiarity.

And then, one fateful day, my wish was granted, but not in the way I had hoped. I fell, detaching from the larger entity I was a part of, landing softly onto Pillow. Finally, I was free to be with my beloved for as long as I desired. No more fleeting nightly encounters, no more painful mornings of separation.

However, as the days passed, I realized the price of my freedom. I grew weaker, losing my luster and strength. But even as I faded, I was content. For I was with Pillow, and in its embrace, I found my peace. And there, I lay, a testament to love and longing, to fleeting moments and eternal bonds.
