Jimin watched as Taehyung and Jungkook stood still as statues.
"You killed him?" Jungkook asked hesitantly, eyes narrowing in suspicion. "But you're so soft and gentle and cute. How did you kill him?"
Jimin would've blushed if blood still ran in his veins. As much as he fought it, it was still gratifying to be complimented by someone so handsome. "Well, when he was kicking me out of his mansion and telling me he regretted making me. That he should've listened to me when I said I didn't want to be a vampire...something snapped. He'd been making me feel as though I were utterly worthless for all those years and I just couldn't take it anymore. I lost it. I shouldn't have, but I did. I lunged at him and tore his throat out with my teeth. Then I pulled his head from his body and threw it into his own fireplace in his bedroom. I watched him burn in the house he cared more about than the creature he'd made."
Taehyung and Jungkook shared a look as a single tear streaked down Jimin's cheeks. Taehyung nodded, quietly standing and leaving the mates alone.
Jungkook swiped his thumb over Jimin's high cheekbones and gently gripped his jaw to force him to meet his eyes. Jimin looked like he expected to be scolded. Like he expected that Jungkook would suddenly hate him now or that he'd be disgusted with him. Jimin's every self degrading thought was written all over his beautiful face and Jungkook couldn't stand it.
"Jimin," he whispered as he watching the man's eyes scrunch close as if waiting for a physical blow. "I'm so proud of you."
"Wh-what?!" Jimin shrieked, eyes blowing open wide and jaw dropping in Jungkook's hands.
"I'm proud of you," Jungkook said louder and more reassuring. "You stood up for yourself. You didn't let yourself continue to be abused. You stopped the cycle. That takes a lot of strength and courage."
"But...but...I killed someone, Jungkook. That's nothing to be proud of!"
Jungkook smiled a rueful smile. "You can't kill something that's already dead. And besides, if you hadn't stopped him, he'd have made someone else and done the same thing to them. You potentially saved a string of people over the rest of eternity from suffering the way you did. So yes. It is something to be proud of. I'm not saying it's something you should do all the time. Become some kind of avenging vampire angel or something, but ending the abuse cycle is very much an accomplishment. He could still have been hunting you to torture you more if you hadn't. I'm proud of you, Park Jimin. And I will say it every second of every day for the rest of eternity if I have to for you to believe it yourself."
Jimin's tears continued to trickle down his cheeks and drip from his chin. He didn't fight it when Jungkook pulled him into his chest, running his fingers through his long, dark hair and gripping tightly across his back. Shutting his eyes, he nuzzled in and let himself take a brief moment of comfort from the vampires cool, bare skin against his cheek.
"Come with us, Jimin. Come travel around the world with us. It doesn't have to be a romantic thing between you and me if you don't want it to be. It can just be three people who like you and care about you taking you in and being your friends. What do you say?"
Nodding against Jungkook, Jimin whispered out a broken. "Okay."
He'd never had any real friends. Even in his lifetime, he'd always been too afraid that if he got close to someone they'd learn his dark secret. Being gay in that time was the equivalent of signing a death warrant. Then after he'd been turned, it was hard to fight his cravings for blood and he was afraid to make human friends in case he couldn't control his bloodlust. The few vampires he'd came across, he'd been afraid they'd find out about him killing his sire. So Jimin had remained alone. Having the offer of friends even after knowing what he'd done...Well, Jimin couldn't say no to that. It was everything he'd ever wanted.
"I'll take good care of you," Jungkook promised, pressing a kiss into Jimin's hair. "I promise I will always take care of you."
Jimin hoped with all his un-beating heart that he meant it.
