Kasumi used to live in the land of the waves. She was the heir of a small clan, on the outskirts in a small village. Her family hold a genkiki that protects them and others from harms way, it also makes them resilient towards poison. In her clan everyone was friendly with everyone, but the people of the land hated them. When she was four years old the villagers attacked her clan. Showing them no mercy.
It was the first time she witnessed what true bloodshed and hatred really was. Kasumis father didn't want his family to die so he told his wife toto take Kasumi with her and run far away, which she reluctantly did so.
Immediately as her and her mother were fleeing, a few villagers noticed them and chased after them. Frightened that they would harm Kasumi, her mother told her to run and to keep running until she reach a village far away from there. That was the last time Kasumi ever saw her mother again.
Kasumi ran and ran, not caring that she was bleeding in more than one place. While on the run she saw a man with spiky blonde hair, and blue eyes in the middle of the road. Kasumi noticed he was wearing forehead protector, so she immediately knew he was a ninja, however she was weary of him, and tried to make herself unnoticeable. Which she failed at since he spotted her on the spot. The man was Minato.
Minato was stunned when he saw a child, especially a bruised and bleeding child. He tried to get Kasumi to answer his question without being pressured but she passed out in fright. Panicked, Minato picked her up and dashed back to the village.
