"Well, Helen, you did it. I mean, I don't think anyone could ever be as good as you."
"Shut up."
"I mean, just look at this accomplishment. I don't know what to say."
"I said shut up, Priscilla." Helen growled, clenching her teeth.
"But what for?" Priscilla said, turning to Helen. "I mean, you did such a great just getting us here."
Helen finally shoved Priscilla and glared at her angrily.
"I told you that I didn't have a compass."
"You also told me that going back the way we came was a surefire way to get out of this creepy forest. And yet here we are, not where we were. Where the hell is this?"
"I have no idea... the only thing I can think of is that the trees can move."
"The trees can move?"
"Yeah... If deer can become sentient enough to knock over a bus and eat people, what makes you think the forest isn't full of moving trees to throw people off their guard?"
"I mean, considering the circumstances, I guess it makes sense... well then, where the heck are we?"
"I just said I didn't know."
Suddenly a noise caught Helen's ears and she put her hand out in a protective gesture towards Priscilla. Priscilla noticed and got closer to her.
"What's going on?" she whispered.
"I can hear something scraping... I think it's like a wild boar or something. They rub their tusks on trees and stuff to obtain and maintain balance. We don't want to be anywhere near that thing."
"'Why?"
"Because they are very territorial and I don't know about you, but I don't want to get porked."
Priscilla slowly looked at Helen with a side eye. "I don't think this is the time for puns."
"There is never a wrong time for a pun."
"And why should I fear getting rutted by a pig?" Priscilla said, ignoring Helen's attempt at being funny.
"Because this forest has carnivorous deer in it that toppled a bus down a ravine and ate two people?"
"Fair enough... If we were going to get away from the boar then what do we do? Climb a tree?"
"That's one way to do it but these trees really don't have low enough branches to grab onto." Helen said, looking around. "I also don't trust them. They could throw us off or something."
"Well we have to do something instead of just standing here. I'm following your lead, madam."
Helen tried to think for a minute when she heard screaming in the distance. She shook her head and pointed.
"I honestly don't know where we are going but I'm going to go in the opposite direction of the screaming and the wild boar. I'm sorry that my skills aren't coming in handy right now."
Priscilla shrugged as Helen led the way away from the terrors of the night.
****************************
After about thirty minutes, they came upon a crossroad and Helen smiled.
"Ha! A road!"
"Hurray, we found a road..." Priscilla said, rolling her brown eyes. "Like the one we've been walking on since earlier."
"No, look, this one has directions."
Priscilla looked where Helen was looking and saw the sign post that had four pickets facing in four different directions.
