Sinking.

Right now, I'm sinking.

Not the usual way, like 'can't swim' sinking but the 'I've got a weight attached to my foot that is pulling me down deeper and deeper into the depths of the ocean' sinking.

Well, I guess I should first introduce myself. I'm Shadow, but others might call me y/n. I'm a superhero. You might ask what my powers are; well, I can fly, breathe underwater, I have telekinesis powers, and I'm an acrobat. You probably wonder why I'm not using my superpowers to get out of this situation, but that is the problem. Let me explain my story, starting when I met the young justice crew and my fiance, Nightwing.

It was just a typical night in Gotham, dark and windy as usual. I was currently on top of a rooftop, doing the rounds around Gotham and making sure any unusual crimes wouldn't happen. I looked to my left and saw the ocean and a calm sea. When I looked to the right, I nearly screamed in shock but held it in. Standing beside me were the famous Batman and Nightwing. I had never encountered them before, usually because I liked to stay secluded and in the dark.

"What's your name?" Said Batman, his voice coming from the dark of night.

"Shadow," I said quietly, glancing at the former boy wonder standing on the opposite side of me. As I looked over him, I noticed his well-toned body. Quickly realizing what I was doing, I turned and looked out at the city.

"Hmph." He grunted, looking away from me and towards Nightwing.

Nightwing rolled his eyes and then looked at me, an eyebrow raised. "You a hero?"

"I think so?" I replied cautiously, hoping that I wouldn't get in trouble for saying, I think.

"Follow Nightwing and me. We need to talk to you in the Batcave, just to make sure that no one is listening to our conversation," Batman grumbled, using his bat claw and swinging down to the batmobile, landing smoothly inside it. Nightwing then smirked at me, jumped off the building, and landed on his bike.

"How am I going to get there if I don't have a ride?" I yelled down to him.

He smirked, patting the back of his bike. "Hop on." He then slid his helmet on and adjusted his position on the bike.

I smirked and jumped off the roof, flipping and landing gracefully next to the bike. I smiled and then sat on the bike, wrapping my arms around him and making myself blush slightly. He then turned around and said sorry quickly before wrapping a handkerchief around my eyes and tying it tightly around my eyes.

When we got to the cave, Nightwing pulled the cloth off my eyes, and I squinted as I adjusted to the dim lighting. "Welcome to the bat cave." he stepped away, his arms out to the sides like he was showing off the place. I smiled and watched as Batman got out of the batmobile. He walked over to his desk, and we both followed, waiting for him to tell me what to do.

"Since I'm assuming you are a hero and are not lying, do you mind telling me how long you have been in Gotham and why you have been helping the citizens?" He asked in a calm and monotone voice, as usual.

"Well, I've been in Gotham all my life, but it's a complicated story and one that I would like to keep to myself." I shrug, looking between the two men.

"Fair enough, I guess there is now an opening since Miss Martian is not on the team anymore, and after Wally's death, I think she could help out with the team. So it's up to you, Nightwing." Batman looked towards the handsome man, his chiseled face with slight stubble, staring right back at me.

"Shadow, it's your choice, but would you be willing to join the Young Justice league? We could use your help if you're up for the job?" He said, smiling slightly.

"But I haven't even done anything; what makes you think I'm capable?" I asked, looking between the two.

"Well, we may or may not have been watching you," Batman said, making me start to freak out on the inside.

"Watch me? What exactly do you mean by that!" I yelled, about to take Batman's head off, but was stopped by Nightwing holding me back. He wrapped his strong hand around my wrist as I glared at the dark knight.

"We've been watching you since you started your daily nightwatch." he crossed his leg over his knee and leaned back in his chair, holding his hands together in his lap.

I huffed and jerked my hand out of Nightwing's hand, gaining a chuckle from the old boy wonder.

"I'll take the job but let me get my stuff from my apartment, ok?" I cross my arms around my chest and lean against a nearby wall. "And might I ask, where will I be staying?"

"You will be staying in Mount Justice with the rest of the crew, but you will have to share a room with someone because Wally never had a room, and Impulse took Miss Martian's," said Nightwing, as Batman turned his chair back around, facing the array of blue screens filled with endless amounts of text.

"Of course, you can always use my room; I'm never there because I'm usually at the bat cave most of the time." Whispered Nightwing into my ear quietly.

"That's fine with me; as long as I'm close to Mount Justice, I'm good." I chuckle back at my response.

He walked back over towards his bike, and I followed, pushing myself up off the wall with my foot.

"Will I ever get my own ride, or will I have to bring in my motorcycle and get it modified?" I walked over to his bike and sat on the back of it.

"We'll get your bike modified, but I'm perfectly fine with having us share a ride at the moment." He smirked at me before putting on his helmet and sliding on in front of me. He revved the engine, and I blushed as I wrapped my arms around his waist. We both rode off towards my apartment, not needing a handkerchief wrapped around my eyes a second time.
