The next day I awoke in the late afternoon to the sound of crickets chirping, I stood up shakily and made my way over the the railing of the boat, I couldn't believe my eyes, "land ahoy" I yelled to the little crew that remained, I took my first step into the warm sand an collapsed in to the solid earth and closed my eyes with a smile on my face, I stood back up and made my way through the vast, dense forest to scavenge for and fruits an firewood, when satisfied with my gatherings I made my way back to the beach with a smile on my face, as I returned I saw my mother sitting on the sand cradling my baby brother, my smile faded, I dropped my findings, tears flooding my eyes and collapsed into the sand, I sat for 3 hours rocking myself back and forward like my mother used to do for me when I was scared. I eventually fell asleep, when I awoke a fire was built and a blanket was wrapped around me, I stood up and took hold of my now deceased baby brother and wrapped him tightly in bamboo leaves, I walked to the waters edge and looked out into the distance, bright blue water, light fluffy foam and lost hope. I placed Luke on the waters edge took one last look at his innocent face, I turned away and whispered " I love you Luke" and wiped a tear away from my eye.

I walked slowly back to the crew that remained, my mother Kay, little sister Louise, the neighbours mr and mrs Kirlois and there four children Deniel, Laura, Christian and Tray.So far we lost my father and baby brother, Mrs Kirlois, Deniel and Christian. We all sat around the fire mourning for our loved ones, crying until our eyes stung. Then we heard in between sobs little Tray say ever so softly " what are we to do know?" We were all silent for a moment then I plucked up the courage and said strongly "survive".
