"Lunch time!" Ranboo called out from inside. The three friends all decided to eat outside that afternoon. He then headed outside with a tray full of yummy food. A creamy, mushroom stew for Techno, a chicken sandwich for Y/n, and a nutritious salad for Ranboo. Sitting in a rocking chair, Techno sat in silence, reading a long book. Y/n sat patiently, staring at the fire.. creepily.
"Here you go!" Ranboo exclaimed, giving the guests their respective meals. Sitting down along with them, Ranboo broke the silence.
"So, um, do you have any idea how to get rid of.. this?" They asked, side-eying the long, cat tail swishing in the wind.
"I dunno," Techno shrugged, "I thought you knew," he admitted, sipping his soup.
"Y/n?" Techno questioned, perplexed.
"Oh? Eh," Y/n began, "I only just met you yesterday," they slumped back in their chair, sleepy. The porch then fell into silence again as the three enjoyed their meals.
The white ocean slowly melted away from the porch as the strong, orange blaze grew brighter. Techno scooted closer, bringing warmth to his face. Sipping his soup, he stared, blankly.
The falling white particles sprinkled the porch and chairs. The bright sun barely peaked through the pale, cloudy sky. The songs of birds and the whistle of the wind were the only sounds heard in that period of tranquility.
"Hey.." Ranboo started.
"This 'secret'.. you're not going to tell anyone about.. this?" He inquired, concerned.
"Why would we need to?" Y/n remarked, placing their plate on a nearby end table. Snuggling into their pillow, they turned their head to face their black and white host.
"Well.. maybe to make fun of me, or sumn.." Ranboo replied, getting quieter. They looked down at his legs, insecure.
"Unless you did something to me, I wouldn't make fun of you!" Y/n replied.
"Techno? Would you-?"
"Oh!" Ranboo whispered-yelled, surprised, "he's asleep,"
"Techno!" Y/n yelled.
"I DROP KICKED THAT CHILD IN SELF DEFENSE-!" Techno exclaimed, jumping up from his chair. He sat back down and caught his breath. Y/n stared at him, neutral. Ranboo stared as well, but shocked.
"Techno?" Y/n called, again.
"Huh, what, huh?" Techno, remarked, spinning his head around until he spotted Y/n.
"Are you gunna tell anybody about Ranboo's, uh, thing?!" They questioned, impatiently.
"What? No!" Techno retorted. Ranboo sighed in relief, laying back.
"Oh.. thank you," They replied, thankful.
"Oh, are you two finished?" Ranboo asked, standing up with his plate. The two siblings nodded, standing up along with their shy, new.. friend? They headed inside, leaving the cold, snowy plague behind.
After sliding the door closed, Ranboo made his way to the kitchen. Immediately, they got to work on the dishes.
"You don't have to do that right now, you know?" Y/n, chimed. Ranboo stood up straight, surprised.
"What else could I do?" He asked, confused. Y/n swung their head around, thinking. Ranboo stood, silent, awaiting Y/n's answer.
"Do you have board games?" They asked, a bit worried. Ranboo sighed, embarrassed.
"No sorry. I do live by myself, you know!" Ranboo explained, staring at the floor.
"Oh um," Y/n responded, staying silent, listening in thought. They turned their head to face Techno, but he was fast asleep. Y/n raised their hand to their chin, thinking deeply.
"Oh, do you want to go for a walk?" Y/n questioned, quietly, out of ideas. Ranboo's eyes widened, interested. He placing the few dishes in sink as they turned around to think to himself. After a few seconds, they turned back around with a verdict.
"Sure! But, let's not go too far," Ranboo agreed, happily. He headed to their entrance closet to pick out a jacket whilst Y/n pulled their coat up from the couch.
"I'm ready; You lead the way!" Ranboo instructed as the two headed outside. Once out in the cold, icy air, Y/n paused and took a deep breath. They both stood outside, taking in the harsh atmosphere.
"Alright, let's go," Y/n remarked, starting towards the tall evergreen trees. Stepping onto the thick, crunchy snow, Y/n confidently led the two-person "hiking" group. Y/n went out of their way to step on dead branches and Ranboo looked around, admiring the beautiful winter wonderland.
Snow swirled and danced around the quaint forest, painting the tall trees and musty grass. As the snow slowly added another layer to the ocean of white, Y/n dragged their feet, messily drawing lines in the thick coverings.
Walking in complete silence, Ranboo stared at the beautiful clean landscape around him. Y/n jogged through the quiet forest filled with dopamine and energy. Ranboo then quickly stared at their guest, surprised by their sudden burst of happiness.
"Do you like the snow?" Ranboo queried, shocked. Y/n turned their head as they slowed down.
"I love the snow! Everyone's so full of cheer and laughter," They explained, smiling warmly. Ranboo smiled back and turned their head to adore the frosty bliss.
"And!" They started again, grabbing Ranboo's attention.
"Oh?" Ranboo asked, curious.
"The white waves remind me of you, I guess,"
Ranboo stopped, his jaw dropping, shocked. Their eyes widened as a faint red glow appeared on the left side of his face.
"O-oh, really?" They stuttered. Y/n stopped and turned around again.
"Yeah, why?" They inquired, confused.
"Oh, u-um, I'm just.. surprised, that's all," Ranboo replied, only loud enough for Y/n to hear.
"Why? Half of you is white, and so is the snow!" Y/n explained, plainly. Ranboo looked down at the snowy ground.. disappointed?
"Oh.." He mouthed. Only the trees and bushes understood what they said. For some reason, Ranboo felt sad.. why? He had only known Y/n for not even a day. Y/n barely knew anything about them, why would the snow remind them of Ranboo for any reason other than the fact that half of them were literally colored white.
So why was Ranboo feeling disappointed? Why did he kind of feel Y/n liked them in some other way? Nonetheless, Ranboo shook his head and brushed off this "sadness". Right now, they had to find out why his new tail and ears had appeared again! Which is easier said than done. With zero evidence, finding the answer to this question would be tough.
Lost in thought, Ranboo didn't realize Y/n had stopped walking. They kept moving until he bumped straight into Y/n, knocking them down.
"Oh! I'm so sorry!" Ranboo, exclaimed, slightly embarrassed. Crouching down, he held their hand out. But to his surprise, Y/n ignored their offer and got up on their own.
"It's fine, wanna head back?" They asked, pushing that situation aside.
"Uh- sure," Ranboo sighed, turning red out of pure embarrassment. Well, actually, to them, it didn't exactly feel like pure embarrassment. That red glow from early stuck to Ranboo like glue. Why? What was this feeling? What was happening to him? Despite these questions, Ranboo didn't care about this rose red hue on his face, at the time, they had bigger fish to fry. But one question lurked in the back of his mind.
How does Y/n feel? They thought, curious. Sighing, he thought it was best to forget about that and move on. Y/n was just their guest staying at his place for a little while. Even though Ranboo fought hard to forget this question, it still stuck with them. Ranboo shook a bit. Was he cold? No, he was scared. Would they have to actually ask Y/n about this, or would he keep it to themself?
Ranboo took a shaky, deep breath, and just ignored everything in his mind. Hopefully Y/n wouldn't detect their fear.
