~ Don't invite a vampire into your home unless you want them to never leave. ~

Emaline Throndsone

"What do you mean I'm one of you?" I stood up, ready to throw a punch at her already pissed with the situation

"Well, it's one of those side effects. You were turned into a vampire to become an immortal." She spoke calmly as if this were some therapy session

"How many side effects are there!? Just let me go home!" I started panicking again. I really couldn't help it. I started getting teary, and soon, I was crying while Elizabeth tried her best to soothe me

This was so overwhelming

"How about we get you something to eat, and we can talk when you're calmer." She wiped my tears and lifted me up to follow her to what I assumed would be the kitchen

The hallways were filled with paintings that looked similar to Elizabeth from her eyes to how her nose was shaped, although I couldn't make put all of the features. It was too dark, too, but I could tell that they were related somehow. As I passed the paintings, I noticed they all had something in common, the people in the paintings were wearing crowns and holding a scepter that seemed to be decorated according to their attire. They were royalty

"We are. These are our past generations. We are yet to discover a new one. My sister is the leading so far, but it hasn't become official. She's a good leader, but she can be very difficult and hard to deal with and handle. We are the royal family in what we call the underworld. It's where all magical creatures and fictional things humans never thought existed thrive." As she finished the sentence, we were in the kitchen, and she was already making a fruit salad

"Keep that thing hidden, or your mother might just kill you." Her voice was as sudden as the wind was in a house with closed windows and closed doors. I looked to my left to find her sitting on the couch as she scrolled on her phone. She just called me a thing

"Well, isn't it good, Brielle? I won't be fully responsible for what you have caused."she laughed at her as it were a joke and looked her dead in the eyes when she was done as if there was a private conversation I wasn't invited to

"Well, I'm leaving tell your mother not to expect and that I'll see her by down or so." She got up to stand but stopped by Elizabeth's shocked reaction

"You're not staying?" She asked her as if pleading her to reconsider

"Yes, I am. I'm not trying to babysit." She left those words hanging in the air for us to pick out like they would be easier to pick than to breathe them in. They were suffocating

"Sorry about that. She can be ... well ... like I said ... difficult."

After Elizabeth was done making the fruit salad, we sat down on the couch that Brielle was previously on. We sat in silence as I ate, and I couldn't help but wonder why she didn't eat

"Okay. Let's try again. Number 1,you are dead. Number 2, you are in the place called the underworld where all fantasy and fictional characters humans thought didn't exist thrive. Number 3, you sold your soul for internal life. Number 4, you are now a pet. You serve your master in return for maintaining an immortal life for at least 3 years, and then you can go on your own. Number 5, your family doesn't remember you, mainly because after you die, you aren't remembered by your loved ones. Lastly, your master is Brielle." She explained as straightforward as possible, and u couldn't wrap my head around the fact that I didn't have a beating heart or did I

"I don't remember agreeing selling my soul to live." I put down the bowl I was eating from when I finished ready for the situation to sink in

"Well, to be fair, it's not your decision to make. Your soul decides for you. It knows when and how life will turn out for you. It's wants you to exist to finally understand that."

"How does your soul do that." I asked a little curious how a soul can decide your fate because it felt right

"One of those things you know but never understand."

"Why did my family forget about me?"

"When you become a vampire but born a human, the ones that remember you as a human will forget you. It's just a process every turned vampire has to take."

"What about serving my master?"

"Well, they drink blood from you to survive, and in turn, they mentor you." She explained as easy as it took to brush your teeth in the morning. It was automatic answers

"What?" I asked, astonished and overwhelmed

"Emaline, I need to get ahold of yourself." That was her way of saying that she needed me to believe it and to keep quiet and just take in information.

"Another thing is that since we're royalty, meaning that the powers we have are amplified in turn you have the normal powers but twice as good but with you, it's like you stayed a human but came back to life and didn't become a half blood."

"What's a half blood?"

"It's when you're born a human but turn into a vampire later in your life."

I rubbed my forehead, trying to make sense of the situation. "So I can't go home because they don't remember me?" She nodded in response, and I groaned

"So what happens now?" I asked, trying to find a way forward

"Well, you stay with us for the next three years, and you'll be free to go."
