Chapter Twelve

After the Halloween dance was over Marinette and Adrien were able to sneak back to his car hand in hand, it was odd knowing now that they really did have feelings for each other, they didn't need the soulmate app anymore, since in each other's eyes now they were together, it was almost to natural how quickly it all fell into place with a single kiss, they held hands the whole time as they ended up parking and walking around Paris, Halloween was a fun time in the streets of Paris, so many kids running around in the streets dressed up in the costumes. It made the couple happy seeing all the kids running around excitedly getting candy from the shops and leaving apartment buildings with bags full of candy. "That's how we should've done it as kids." Adrien commented as he looked at all the kids running around with bags full of candy. Marinette laughing and nodding in agreement.

Marinette laughed as she nodded remembering how Adriens bodyguard would always take them to the neighborhoods outside Paris and they'd trick or treat until they could barely walk anymore from exhaustion, she remembered the fond memories of the group saying that if they ever got rich and famous like Adriens dad they would all move to that neighborhood and be best friends and neighbors so that they didn't have to deal with people that weren't already their friends, Marinette's expression dropped as she saw a Limo that looked a little to familiar just ahead of them, it was like she was being tracked by him, almost to a creepy extent, but her expression changed to fear when she saw her aunt and cousin exit the vehicle and start to rush towards them once their eyes landed on her. Marinette quickly dragged Adrien into an alleyway to hide from them, Adrien blocked her from their sight as they ran past the alleyway.

He looked down at her and smiled softly she looked so panicked yet he found her expression absolutely adorable, everything about her was adorable, her expressions, her eyes, her smile, her laugh, he'd thought that since they were younger and now he could finally tell her all these things when her crazy relatives weren't hunting them down. "We'll get out of this I promise." He whispered to her grabbing her hand and running as soon as they could no longer hear people yelling out her name. They climbed in his car thankfully it was nearby and began their trip back to the mansion. "Thank god we got out of there." Marinette was able to breathe a sigh of relief as they hopefully escaped her aunt and cousin, and on top of that Luka as well. "Why are they so adamant about taking you back to Orleans, I know for your aunt its probably the money, but why Luka?" Adrien asked, knowing the history Marinette had with him, but he wanted to see just how much about the last 4 years of her life she remembered.

"I don't remember much about my life then, I was on a medication that made me pretty unaware of my surroundings, so the idea that I dated someone for even a little while when I was in that state, baffles me." Marinette spoke softly as she tried to think of the reason she would even consider being with anyone when she's known about the soulmate system since before she met Adrien. "Maybe your aunt had more of a hand in the situation than we think she did." Adrien was worried that the woman would quickly become a problem, if she was still looking for Marinette and attempting to get her to come back to orleans with her to take custody and try and start receiving all the money from Marinette's inheritance again. "No matter what, I'm not going anywhere with that woman, she took 4 years of my life away, 4 years I could've spent with the best soulmate I could've asked for." Marinette spoke blushing slightly as she confessed how she felt about Adrien being her soulmate finally after spending so much time getting to know him all over again after losing 4 years of her life to a single car accident and a greedy aunt.

After that Adrien and Marinette's time together was spent watching movies together, talking, and even getting close to being more comfortable snuggling up to each other as they watched films and they would even just sit in comfortable silence watching videos on their phones together and sharing the ones they thought the other would like, they'd slowly become an actual couple, one that even people at their school were beginning to notice as they walked around talking about their after school 'plans' which were actually just dates but they would just order takeout and eat in one of their bedrooms, but a glare was always set on the couple, the green eyed monster of jealousy had begun to consume many girls in the school who had set their eyes on Adrien. One Brunette was especially set on making him hers, whether he had his soulmate or not.

"Oh Adrien!" Lila yelled as she rushed towards Adrien and Marinette with a fake smile, Marinette obviously wanting nothing to do with the brunette and just took Adrien's gloved hand and squeezed it tight, it was getting colder out as November began, and the couple was very much bundled up to keep warm, even if it was entirely designer clothing, they still looked quite cozy. "I missed you while I was overseas in New York helping the city get all the stray animals off the street so they wouldn't be stuck in the harsh winter weather there!" Lila spoke placing a dramatic hand on her cheek as she looked at Adrien, her eyes then swiftly moving over to Marinette who was attached to Adrien like glue.
Marinette had a glare on her features, Adrien stepping slightly in front of her in a protective manner. "Good to see you to Lila, I'm sure you remember Marinette, my soulmate." Adrien reintroduced Marinette with a small smirk on his features, as he squeezed Marinette's gloved hand in his own, Marinette's features softened as she heard Adrien, she knew Lila stood no chance with Adrien. "Good to see you again after 4 years Lila." Marinette spoke as she stepped up next to Adrien and moved his arm over her shoulders so that they were even closer.

Lila's eyes widened before a smirk slowly made it's way onto her features. "Oh I didn't realize you had come back to Paris Marinette, I'm so sorry to hear about your parents passing, I'm sure it must not be easy not having parents." Lila spoke trying to hit Marinette where it hurt, which she succeeded but was only met with a disappointment of her own as Adrien looking to Marinette and pulling her into a tight hug. "That's not funny Lila." Adrien spoke as he held Marinette close to his chest, the girl Lila hated so much, was in the arms of the boy she wanted, soulmates were never important to Lila at all, she just wanted Adrien.
